Edina - I was actually one of those weird kids that really liked the mashed potatoes, meat loaf, and green beans.. And I LOVED the days when they served turkey with gravy - yum!
I agree about all the ala carte items.. The majority of them have no nutritional value at all and if they weren't available then the kids would HAVE to eat the better foods or go hungry.. That was the rule when I was a kid - I either ate what was put in front of me or I didn't eat period..
Guess I'm old fashioned too because I think children (especially in the elementary age group) are given FAR too many choices when it comes to food - both in school AND at home..
