We are planning a tasty experitment with out Y7 food tech. students and have to give them four flavoured drinks which they have to identify - but are struggling with a drink that has a bitter flavour, the only thing we can come up with is angasotra bitters (hopefully spelt right) but can't use this as it is alcoholic!! Any ideas would be appreciated we have the following

Salt - salt water
Sweet - lemonade
sour - lemon juice + water
Bitter - ?????

If you were in Ice Station Cool I'd suggest a Beverly ;) :scared:

Given the more limited range of options available in this country I think Bitter Lemon is probably a good suggestion or maybe tonic water :)

how about a strong coffee flavour?

Indian Tonic water immediately came to mind for bitter.

Claire ;)

Yes I agree with others here, Bitter Lemon, Indian Tonic Water, strong black coffee.

Sue :cutie:

Does it have to be a drink? The most bitter thing - as opposed to sour - I have ever had is fresh horseradish root - disgusting! Even in the Bible it's known as bitter herbs. I suppose you could grate it into water.

Would not give year 7 coffee!!! they'd be bouncing of the walls!

I'd go with what others have said which is tonic water :)

Ah, yes, good point!! they'd also be protected from malaria!!!

Sadly, tonic doesn't contain Quinnine any more! :rotfl:

If you go to your local M&S they have a still lemonade that is very very bitter. They also do a horseradish drink that tastes horribly sour.
