School/class rings

Did you get a ring when you graduated from high school or college? If so, do you ever wear them? I was going thru my jewelry box and came across my school rings and they haven't been worn in years.

I did not get one for HS. My parents wouldn't buy it and I didn't think I would ever wear it so I didn't want to spend my own $$. I am not a jewelery person really.

I did both....I got the HS ring in November of my sophomore year of high school and wore it (basically) every day until October of my Junior year of college, when I got my college ring, and I've worn it every day since...but I HATE it with a passion...I don't know what made me choose this design as it is just NOT me at all....I may trade it in eventually, as they'll replace it with one I like for $50...but that'll be in a year or so, when I actually have some money...

Sold the HS ring when I was in college. The college ring sits in the box for the last 24 years. It really does not fit anyway.

I got my HS ring, which I loved. It's white gold with a sapphire stone (my birthstone). It's sitting in my jewelry box right now - it doesn't even fit on my little finger (not that I'd wear it now anyway...).

I didn't get a college ring. I can't even remember for sure if they offered them to us.

I got both. I wore them every day until I lost them. Oddly enough, I lost both of them in a very similar way.

I lost my high school ring while I was in college. I was washing my hands before lunch one day when the ring slid off and went down the drain.

I lost my college ring about a year after I finished college. Again, washing my hands, but I took the ring off this time (lesson learned, I thought). The ring bounced off the floor, up under the sink cabinet. I tried and tried to get it, but never could get it out from underneath!

I never got a college ring but I did have a HS ring. Loved it and wore it all the time until I lost it. I only had it a few months b/c I was at a party in October of senior yr(got the ring at the end of junior) and in some drunken movement flung the ring off my hand into someones front yard. I was lucky enough to have a few friends look for it with me for hours, while I on the other hand I couldn't care less (did I mention I had one to many). Never did find it - and regret it a great deal. Though even if I had it I probably would never wear it.

I didn't get either one. Couldn't afford a high school one and wasn't really interested in a college one. When I was in high school I really wanted one, but once I graduated I didn't really care anymore. Have never regretted not having one.

I have a HS one - I don't like it at all. We weren't allowed many options so I got stuck with a style, stone color and design I just don't like.

I went to a private school and all they really allowed you to choose was your birthstone everything else had to be the way the school wanted it.

The year after they let people put their names on them and choose different "icons" for clubs or whatnot.

Mine has my hs sports mascot on one side. Since I didn't play sports or even attending sporting functions this means nothing to me. The other side is the school "crest." Again, means nothing to me. I think if I could have customized it I would like it.

I have both. I haven't worn my HS ring since college but I wear my college ring just about everyday and it has been 15 years. Mine is all gold with no stones and the college seal is stamped in the top. It doesn't 'look' like a school ring until you look at it closely.

I have my high school ring. It's setting in the jewarly box. Along with my state champoinsships for basketball. Which I have 4 rings for basketball alone.

Do not have the college ring.

When I graduated from HS, my parents gave me the money that they would have spent on a class ring to buy a ruby and diamond ring I wanted. It is in our safety deposit box now. I didn't think I would wear a class ring for long. I didn't get one when I graduated from college.

Never got a HS ring because I thought it was a waste, knowing I'd never wear it after I got out of HS.

I got a college one, but I currently don't wear it. I did wear it every day before I got pg w/ my 1st ds. My fingers have just never recovered (ie, my fingers are still too fat!)

I have a high school class ring, it's in a small jewelry box on my dresser, along with DH class ring and a gold flute pin the other girls in the band got me on Senior Night football game. Don't think I wore the class ring after graduation.

DH and I both got class rings in HS, we were in 11th grade. We wore them until we were married and then we took them of and put them away. On one of our moves about 5-6 years ago the rings were stolen.

I got my class ring ,never wore it past first year of college if that long.When DH and I were getting married a family friend was making our wedding rings.Well not having any 14ct gold hanging around.We gave him our class rings to melt down.So now I can say we wear them all the time.

My parents used my "class ring money" to buy me a pearl ring with two small diamonds. It is a pinky ring and I still wear it everyday.... almost 20 years later.

I lost it once.... throwing a snowball. DH and DS spent hours looking through the snow and finally found is several days later.

I did replace the pearl once, but it really surprises me that the ring has held up this long.
