I'm running out of time and need a gift for DD5's bus driver. He is the sweetest gentleman and keeps my daughter (as well as 30? other 5 y/os) safe each day.

I never see him with coffee or soda but I know he's a Chicago Bears fan. I was thinking a Bears mug w/ a dunkin Donuts gift card but I I'm not sold on the idea. Thoughts??

I usually do a gift card to target or a place to eat, not coffee as I don't drink coffee but I would be happy with dunkin' donuts since there is plenty of other stuff and usually paired with ice cream.

Skip the mug and put the additonal money toward the gift card.

The reasoning behind the mug was to make it a bit more personal (i.e. a team we know he's a big fan of). If $10 seems cheap I could add more.

Also I was thinking Dunkin bc there was more of a menu there and it's convenient on his route. So even if he doesn't like coffee there would be other options...

Maybe if I skip the mug I should have my daughter make him a card and put a gift card in there?

A giftcard to dunkin donuts is always good no matter how much or little you want to spend...worst case scenario he can bring donuts to someon's house if he doesnt eat there

We used to give him cash. We collected $5 per kid. At one time I had 4 kids out of the 10 at our bus stop.

Other years we gave homemade Christmas Mix & cookies. One year we did gloves, which he really appreciated and wore them often during the cold mornings.

A funny story.....growing up, in the NorthEast, we went to Cathloic school. Our bus driver was so awesome he stopped at our driveway. (all the neighborhood kids hung out at our home waiting for the bus). So, for a Christmas gift my mother wrapped up a bottle if fancy wine. Being Cathloic and all, and during the 70's is was not frowned upon as much as it would be today.

Can you imagine the horror of the school/parents, etc. knowing there was a bottle of alchohol on the school bus???

I always do gift card. I am so thankful for them taking care of my little ones. To make it more personal I just add a Christmas card with a thank you from me and then I have my kids right something sweet in it also.

That is a great gift! I think he will be thrilled with the fact that you got him a gift that shows that you care enough to know what he likes. :santa:

Love the story! I was raised Catholic on the east coast and my parents are from HUGE Catholic families and went to Catholic school. I can absolutely see that happening back then lol!

Our driver actually changed his route so that he could pick my daughter up and drop her off right at our cul-de-sac. He didn't want her having to cross the street and walking to the bus stop. So he takes an extra couple minutes out of his day to make things safer and easier for her. People just don't go out of their way like that anymore.

Also the plate of cookies is a great idea too! I might have to get baking tonight. :)

We ordered him a personalized card from the kids, and gave him a candy cane with it... :confused3
This is the first year we've had a bus driver. I don't think many kids here gift to their bus drivers, he was pretty excited about their cute card, he put it where everyone could read it lol. :)

I haven't gifted every driver each kid has had beyond a nice card, letter, and candy. This particular driver has spent the year going above and beyond and I'd like to do something nice for him.

Can you find a Chicago Bears ornament + GC? That makes it personal and useful. I usually just do the handmade card (from DS) + $5 to Target. I typically hunt down the Target game/Lego GC. This year it was this goofy Target car. I miss the free Target Lego GC...

My DH is a school bus driver. Honestly, he will like anything you give him. They often get overlooked so he gets excited when anyone remembers him or thanks him.

I think your idea is great:thumbsup2 My ds had a wonderful driver last year and we gave him a homemade card and giftcard to a local restaurant(he loved it) This year is candy in a pretty dish (this years bus driver is not so wonderful:( she lets the kids walk around and eat on the bus, three of the kids on the bus are her grandkids)

My dd has a driver and aide on the bus. They are the sweetest ladies and take such good care of her - I give them each a $10 gift card to Target (I got the dog in the car this year - last year I got the Lego ones). I would give them more if I could afford it.

My ds has a male driver, also very nice. He is getting a $10 giftcard to Wawa.

Every year we give dd's bus driver a handwritten thank you for keeping our dd safe and a $25 gift card to Target. The drivers have so much responsibility and don't make very much, so they are one of the "school" gifts where we give a little more.

As a pp said, I think most drivers would appreciate any gift to show you are thinking of them.

I've been driving school bus for 11yrs now and I totally agree with this. Over the years, I have received some gifts. Mostly candles, candy, gift cards (dunkin donuts, mcdonalds, grocery store, etc) and once I got $10 in a card. I also remember getting a huge gift basket with all kinds of homemade goodies. That was a treat!!! LOL

But anything you give, I'm sure he'll appreciate it.
