Schengen Areas

Hi again!

Just received our blue spiral!!! SUPER EXCITED!!! My husband and I have not been back to Europe since our honeymoon 15 years ago and this will be our son's first trip to Europe! Many things have changed in regards to traveling!!! Here's our trip in a nutshell:

Flying from Denver to Copenhagen via Iceland (1 hour 10 min layover in Iceland, so not leaving terminal), staying in Copenhagen for a couple of days pre-cruise, sailing to Norway, and flying to Iceland for a two day layover post cruise. As I was reading our blue spiral, the "Schengen Visa" area caught my eye. Please help me / correct me if needed ....

1. As a U.S. citizen with a current Passport that doesn't expire until a few years from now, I am ok to travel to the areas listed above without a special Visa.
2. I don't need to fill out any approval paperwork for my travel since I will only be gone for 13 days as a tourist.

Question .... When traveling in and out of the areas listed above, do I need anything special or do I need to do something special with our passports / paperwork? THANK YOU!!! Cheers!

I went through passport control in Iceland, but that may have been due to a long layover? One hour seems short for that. But the airport is tiny and passport control was super fast so maybe. (Edit to say yes, even on layover. Passport shown upon entry and exit of Iceland. Flight to/from Copenhagen is "domestic".)

Iceland really wasn't a big deal but be sure to have your hotel address for first nights stay in Copenhagen. Fairly sure that's the only thing I needed for paperwork. Supposedly proof of return flight/cruise, or so I was told, but no one asked for that.

You'll love Iceland! I would love it if you posted a trip report on Copenhagen- Northern Europe is on my list

Yes, you'll go through customs/passport stuff once to enter the Schengen region and then you're good. No special paperwork needed! Traveling within the Schengen region feels kind of like traveling between states within the US. The downside to this is that you only get one passport stamp, so if you're into collecting those for each country you visit, you're out of luck.
