Hello Everyone. I am new here and up til this past January, new to Disneyland. We live in Colorado but bought deluxe annual passes to DLR since I could use miles and/or find cheap flights to California. I want to plan a trip for this summer but since we are blocked out on Saturdays and I really want to see fireworks, I was wondering if Fireworks will be scheduled Monday through Thursday nights. Anyone have a guess for summer in 2017?

Also, I read an article that said that DLR has been reducing Fireworks and may get rid of them all together. Anyone hear about this? If true, when might they discontinue them?

TIA!!

In the past, during the summer, DL does have fireworks every day. I haven't seen any news reports about fireworks being eliminated.

Yes, they tend to do fireworks every day during the summer.

I haven't heard any rumors regarding your second point, and I really can't see that happening. HOWEVER, fireworks at Disneyland are very weather and wind dependent. Because Disneyland is so close to surrounding businesses and residential areas, there are strict rules about the conditions in which they can set them off. They have been having to cancel them a lot lately due to wind. That may have been what you were reading about? If you want to see fireworks, make sure you try to see them as early in your trip as possible so that if they get canceled you have another chance.

Thank you for your reply!! Comforting to know that they will probably schedule fireworks for everyday this summer. Yes, I know the fireworks are prone to getting cancelled - happened to us in early February on a Friday night our first day in the parks for that trip, but we got to see them the following Sunday night so it worked out ok. I am thinking of only visiting weekdays unless there are no fireworks planned Monday thru Thursday. The Saturday block out kind of puts a monkey-wrench into visiting weekends which is intended. I am a teacher so luckily have many days to pick from during the summer. This is the article that said that Disneyland could completely get rid of fireworks. http://www.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs/...sneyland-could-be-saying-goodbye-to-fireworks. Rereading this I see that they somewhat predicted an earlier cancellation of Disneyland fireworks starting last year, but maybe it is something that could still happen? Though all the rain probably means they might hold off (if it was ever a plan).

That article is from almost a year ago, so it looks like the rumor is unfounded, since they are still doing fireworks. :thumbsup2

EDIT: You added more after I had already read it, but I really think this was just a rumor.

I've been there. In all seasons and it's not so windy in the summer months and have not seen the fireworks cancelled in this season as I have in the other seasons. So, I don't think this is as much of a concern during the summer months. And yes the fireworks are nightly in summer time.

I remember those rumors! As others have said, I think it largely stemmed from the uncertainty about which show would be running after the 60th ended. They ended up presenting the smaller Fantasy in the Sky show (and Halloween Screams) after Disneyland Forever ended and before the holiday show began. They're presenting Remember...Dreams Come True for now. As others have said, historically fireworks are scheduled nightly during the summer season (weather dependent).

Yes, I live local to the parks (and have my whole life) and hear the Disneyland fireworks nightly during the summer and on weekends. I can't imagine life without them. I have never heard anything serious about that changing.

I do need new windows because in summer when the windows are open, I have to pause or rewind what I am watching on tv. What a trade off for living close by :)

I just checked the schedule, I am going to be there May 14-16 and it shows the fireworks everyday in April happening, but not May (only weekends). Anyone know why?

They are nightly in April because it's peak time with spring breaks, but I only see them on weekends in May? Where are you seeing that?

Edit to add that your post changed ;)

I see the fireworks on the calendar through the end of April. No May 1 though. Local spring breaks are through the 21st (my district) but they are scattered throughout the month throughout CA and other adjoining states.

There are usually a few weeks between the end of "Spring Break Season" and the start of summer (lately it's been Memorial Day weekend). During this period, DLR goes back to it's non-peak season schedule (shorter hours and reduced entertainment). With Easter being so late this year, the "Spring Break Season" is running through most of April. While not completely accurate, I generally look at the one-day pricing calendar...if it's a weekday (M-R) and it's value price, I feel like there is a good chance of reduced schedule and entertainment.

I can see how the noise would get a bit old but to live so close to the magic would be awesome if you are a Disney lover! I hope they keep up the fireworks schedule in DLR. Those fireworks are probably my favorite part of my visit. I am a sucker for night plus lights. Lights in the sky are bonus.

The noise isn't a big deal. We are used to it. People from out of town, however.... one friend thought we were being invaded! We remember to warn people who stay with us now. It has been nice growing up so close! I have and still do love being so close!

One trip we were staying at the HOJO. We drove down the night before and went to bed a bit early as we were planning an early morning at the parks. The fireworks woke us up sometime after 9PM. They were terribly loud. I imagine it would be shocking to your guests. My mother is easily irritated by the trains that run by our house at night. I don't notice them when I'm sleeping, or even much when I'm awake. You just get used to your environmental sounds I guess.
