Wondering if this is possible.
We have a three day coming up soon and are leaving the kids at home. :bounce:
We have never ate at Palo the last 2 cruises.
We have late dinner seating but would like to eat at Palo this trip since we won't have the kids.
Problem is we love all three of the other restaurants and do not want to give one up. I have read about others doing Palo and the regular dinner on the same night. How can this be done?
Would it not work for us since we have late seating?
We won't get to the ship until between 1:30 and 2:00. Would all the good spots at Palo be gone?

Are men required to have a jacket and a tie?

We didn't plan on it, but we made our Palo resv. around 6:00 pm & had a wonderful dinner. We went downstairs & as we passed by the window @ our reg. scheduled rest. our tablemates beckoned us in & we actually sat down & ate again!!!

I can't remember exactly what my husb. wore - but I know he at least wore a dress shirt & tie. I'm not sure about the jacket.

When we made the reserv. it was on our first sail in 1998 & I didn't know a thing about 'rushing' to do them, but we got in 'relatively' easy. But, then again, we were sailing alone that time & were open to do dinner any day or any time. Since you've cruised before you've experienced all the rest. so pick which one you'd like to skip this time - OR - do what we did!!!! It was great!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

That is what is called the Disney Double Dip! If you have late seating schedule Palo early. If you have early seating schedule Palo late. I would eat very light that day and then maybe for your regular menu eat maybe an appitizer or dessert (although don't miss dessert in Palo - it's the best)!

1) if you dine at both Palo and regularly scheduled rotation restaurant on same night, you will miss the show....therefore, consider scheduling Palo instead of a show that you don't mind missing...

2) Consider Palo on the same night as Tritons...since Palo and Tritons are considered the 2 dressiest restaurants onboard, you wouldnt feel out of place....

if you book Palo on Tritons rotation night, and you dont mind missing that evenings show, I'd say you've hit a home run!!!

On a 3 night cruise - what is the best night for Palo. We are travelling with a 5 & 6 year old so we will have to scheduled the kids club for whatever night. Also, do they serve dinner in the kids club? We have the early seating so I could always schedule Palo for later and take the kids to the restaurant. Any suggestions?

Yes Palo is a special restaurant, and yes the food is fantastic, but on a 3 night cruise I would not skip one of the dinning rotations for it - especially if this is your first cruise on DCL. When we first cruised, our kids weren't quite that young and we insisted that we had dinner together. Since then, that has continued to be the "rule" so we never have had a dinner in Palo (brunch on the 7 night cruise has been our experience with Palo). We enjoy the regular rotations and have had good experiences with our table mates.

You don't have to "schedule" the kids in their clubs, they can drop in anytime you / they want to be there. They don't spend all of their time in the clubs, you may need to find them elsewhere on the ship for drop off or pick up. And they do have the option of feeding them while with the club.

If you book the earliest possible ressie for Palo, you should be out in plenty of time.

More power to you if you can eat two DCL meals, LOL!!

I ate so much at Palo! We had appetizers, antipasta, bread, our main course, desert and wine. I was so full, I could barely breath!

the best night to schedule Palo on a 3 day cruise is a personal choice....

you can schedule Palo and still go to your regular rotation restaurant as well....Unfortunately, you may have to forego one of the shows....this creates a dilemma, since DCL has just added a third "do not miss" show, Golden Mickeys....I believe, but I am not 100% sure, that the shows on the 3 day are Herc, Golden mickeys, and Disney Dreams....all of these shows are top notch....

IMHO, if I were to pick 1 restaurant to skip in favor of Palo, it would be Parrot Cay....the food, ambiance, and service is superior at Palo....

I was wondering this as well so I am glad you asked. What is the latest reservation time for Palo? If we do early dining is our show at 8 or 8:30pm? In other words, could we do a dinner at Palo after the show or is that too late? Thanks!

I hadn't even thought about missing the shows. We just did a 7 western day in March and saw all the shows. Sailing 7 day eastern March 2004. So don't mind missing any of shows except for the new one. So we will try to book Palo as early as possible and then go to our regular late dinner.:bounce: :bounce:

Are men required to wear a jacket? My dh has a jacket but the other man does not. Would he be allowed with just a shirt & tie?

Thanks for all the help.
