We are renting a car from Alamo, then going west to see the Pacific for the first time ever. Is it a nice ride to go south along the coast towards Redondo, then east on 91? Also, any opinions on Ralph's on Brookhurst?

if you just want a slight detour to see the ocean that would be a good drive. if you have more time to spend you might want to consider driving a little northwest to the Santa Monica-Malibu area.

I live in Redondo Beach and if you decide to drive along the cost head down Imperial Hwy towards the coast and turn left (south) at Vista Del Mar for the best views. About a two miles or so after you make the turn on Vista Del Mar you will see a Chevron Gas Station on your right had side at the corner of 45th Street and Vista Del Mar (which turns into Highland Ave). Turn right at 45th Street which will lead you even closer to the coast and metered parking. You don't have to park and you can just drive through all the parking stalls. Once you are back on Highland Ave heading south you will be forced into Manhattan Ave or Hermosa Ave depending on which turn you make. From that point you make a left hand turn on 27th St which will turn into Gould Ave which will turn into Artesia Blvd which will eventually merge into the 91 freeway. Once you are on Artesia it's not very scenic but hey it's all about the beach and Disneyland. Enjoy.

I've never been to the Ralph's Market on Brookhurst so I have no opinion on that.
