Today at lunch a girl had a seizure.:guilty:
What happened was she was sitting in her seat twitching and smiling at her best friend. So her friend held her up. Then thinkinig she was joking let go.....:sad1: There was this thud when her head hit the ground.

A boy at that table screamed one of the teachers names. she told him to be quiet.then he screamed SEIZURE!! everyone one of the teachers ran over there. It got sooo quiet they moved everyone away from the table.two teachers held her down because she was shaking.the ambulance came and we all had to leave.

In our last period we were told she was OK and talking like nothing happened.
This was her first anh hopefully last seizure. This girl is soooo nice never has anything bad to say about anyone.I do not really know her.i have talked to her like twice. but i wish her a quick recovery.:grouphug:

Awe poor girl, I hiope she's all right.

Last week I seen a boy have a seizure in the middle of the hallway. He tripped, and smacked his head on the brick wall, and started having a seizure. I felt so bad for him. My cousin's ex girlfriend use to have seizures all the time last year too.

I hope she gets better! :grouphug:

We had a girl have a seizure a couple times in middle school and she actually had one while driving to school last year!
She's fine though, luckily.

It's is really scary.
The one thing the teachers shouldn't've done was hold her down. When someone's having a seizure, you need to let it be and don't touch the person. The only reason to be alarmed is when it continues for an extended period of time.

I had a seizure in the hospital one time. The only difference was I was concious the whole time. I really thought I was dying, I was petrified. I couldn't control my body and I thought I was having a stroke.

If someone is having a seizure, you should try to move there head to the side so if they throw up they don't choke on their throw up and die.

Yeah, you only touch them of they are going to hurt themselves. Otherwise leave them be.

Scary scary stuff. We had girl one year have a severe asthma attack during finals and the paramedics had to haul her away. Made alot of people cry. We were in History class.

thats scary...i had one at lunch a few years ago. it was scary....all i remember was waking up to people screaming and kids around me. i was wheeled out in a wheelchair and the next time i went to school i had alot of kids hug me cause they were scared.

That sounds scary,.

(Btw, Like Alexis, I was told that you should hold their head to the side so their airway can stay free.)

Oh that's horrible. Glad she's okay.
We learned all about seizures in health class, like what to do if you see someone having a seizure. A girl at my school once had a seizure while running the mile, ambulances had to come and everything. It was really scary, but she's okay.

My best friend has epilepsy and she had a horrific seizure last year. When she doesn't get at least 8 hours of sleep per night she is more prone to having seizures. She has to take her meds too and if she forgets them she usually gets a seizure. I worry about her because she can't control them and not many people, besides maybe the teacher, know what to do in that situation.

I hope she gets better soon.

Last year,
one of my gym teachers had a seizure during a gym class.
i wasn't there though.

Yeah, I was told don't touch the epileptic. If they are emetic, then I can understand moving the head but from what I was told, not many become emetic during a seizure.

I remember one girl had a seizure in the library in 7th grade. I know the EMTs came, rumor was she hit her head on one of the bookcases and split it open.

my best friend has seizures A LOT.

what to do if someone is having a seizure:
if they start to fall, try to catch them. if you do, lay them down flat. if you don't, get to htem as fast as possible.
once theyre on the ground, turn their head to the side, but don't force it.
NEVER EVER EVER insert anything into their mouth.
NEVER EVER EVER hold them in a position.
if they start to vomit, try to keep their head to the side, and if you have to (this is gross) scoop it out of their mouth. they can suffocate if you don't.

if it continues for several minutes and you know that they do not have a history of seizures, call 911. (if you don't know them, call 911 anyway)

a seizure is a little electrical jolt shooting from one hemisphere to another and back and forth in your brain. the victim loses all control of their body when this happens. they won't remember it, and they'll wake up groggy and disoriented and probably scared.

My mom gets seizures sometimes.
She had one two weeks ago for the first time time about 7-8 years.
It was really scary, it was about 2am and she had it in her sleep. I had just gotten in from night out and I heard some weird noise and I thought it was my cat or dog but I turned on the light in my parents room and my mom was seizuring. My dad knows what to do and I just ran to get her pills and some water. I'm was surprised with myself at how calm I was!
She temporarily lost her short term memory and was really confused when she came out of it.

Seizures are pretty scary to see happen but you always have to remain calm in order to control a situation like that.

woah, that's scary stuff!

There's a girl at my school who has seizures a lot. They're usually not serious enough to send her to the hospital, but I remember last year she had one at the Christmas program while she was waiting to go on stage. So everyone saw her and freaked out. It's pretty scary.
