My 9 y o son wants to try some scarier rides on our next trip to DLP (he's 133cm tall). He's fine with BTM and now wants to try ToT. If he's ok with that going up the scary scale so to speak what rides should he try next?
(BTM is my limit, l don't like ToT - once at WDW in 1995 was enough :scared1: , my DH & DD like all the fast rides & don't find any of them scary :confused3 )

On a scale of 1 to 10 - 1 being not scary, 10 being terrifying - what would you rate the scary factor of the following DLP rides?
- BTM
- ToT
- Star Tours
- Space Mountain
- Indiana Jones (min. height 140cm)
- RnR Coaster
- Crush's Coaster
- RC Racer

Thanks for any replies. :goodvibes

Hiya, we are just back recently from DLP. We have twins one boy, one girl who turned 8 the day before we went.
They too got brave this time!! Last time they were 6 and did Thunder Mountain and Star Wars.
This time they did Tower of Terror and love it, Rockin Roller Coaster and Crush.
They were too small for Indiana Jones and Space Mountain. They didn't fancy RC Racer.
They watched Armageddon with my husband and brother but didn't like it.
Hope this helps a little.

Hi Fiona, thanks for the helpful info. :thumbsup2
Yes, l'm Scottish, l live in Ayrshire. :hippie:

I can't help with all of the rides, so can't really rate them, but I went on Crush this past September and didn't like it, but I am not a roller coaster person. I would say, for example, if TOT was a 5 then Crush would be a 6 or perhaps a 7, but that might be just me. I would say BTM is about a 3/4.

I went on Indiana Jones at the age of 11 and really hated it. Again, though, I am not a big rides person.

Star Tours isn't at all scary in my opinion, though if your son suffers from motion sickness in the slightest I wouldn't recommend it. It is probably about a 2, I would say.

Hope that helps a little

Thanks Christie, that's really helpful. :thumbsup2 (reconfirms that BTM is definately my limit, my son on the other hand is becoming more adventureous, which is good).

Lap bar, but you feel safe, suitable for all ages, our kids love it! 3

- ToT
SCARY SCARY! Seat belt to keep you in, you completely come put of your seat! Kids love it, I say a 9!

- Star Tours
If you suffer from motion sickness, you can join me at the exit with my sick bucket ;-) Not scary, totally safe, just jerky where the whole unit moves.

- Space Mountain
More fast than scary. You will bash your head a bit and go upside down, but a good safety bar across your shoulders make you feel secure. About a 7?

- Indiana Jones (min. height 140cm)
Last time I did this it want backwards. Have blocked it out!

- RnR Coaster
Fast, good safety harness over your shoulder, not as dark as SM inside and probably one of the smoothed rides. 8 for the thrill
(
- Crush's Coaster
For all more sins I have never managed this. But Dragon's Fury at Chessington is a good ride to YouTube as its similar, but doesn't go as high.

- RC Racer
Far safety bar, bit on the same principle of the Pirate rocking ship at Legoland, but higher than the one in Chessington! Great safety harness and he should be safe enough to really enjoy it!

Thanks for any replies. :goodvibes
Hope this helps a little - I need to review them again in a few years as I'm getting more terrified of rides as I get older lol!!!

First off, my son is nearly 9 and loves all of the above rides (not yet been on Indiana Jones because of hight requirment, but I am a scardey cat:rotfl2:
the left hand number is his score and the right hand is mine, then you can see just how different we all experience things:!

5 4
9 10+ (although i have never dared go in it)
3 1
8 9
neither been on this yet
7 8
8 6
8 100000000+ of the scale for me!! Was THE scariest ride I have ever done - screamed so hard on this, EVERYONE laughed at me when we got off:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Okay my list!

BTM: 5
ToT: 5
Star Tours: 2
Space Mountain: 8
Indiana Jones: 4
RnR Coaster: 8
Crush's Coaster: 6
RC Racer: 4

But I think the scary scale of BTM, Indiana Jones and RC Racer could vary depending on whether you sit them during the day or at night! The last time I took Indiana Jones was at night, and I found it very tame (possibly because I couldn't see the inversion), but I remember finding it a bit scarier a few years ago when I took it during daylight (all facing forward)... I suspect BTM may be a bit scarier at night...

I second this!! :rotfl:
My DS (11) has never liked the US versions of TofT....however, he really likes the one at DLP...the drop is different (and one of my most fav rides)...our first time on Crush we had no idea of what it actually did, and it sent us all for a loop (literally!) and we came out a little dazed...lol...but we're all fans now! I found RC Racer rather tame, but it can give your stomach a bit of a weightless feeling. :hyper:

Thanks LisaC, addverbaan, sky13 & Miss Skellington for your really helpful replies

Now l'm tempted (slightly!) to try the DLP version. My son would love me to, he'd :lmao: while l :scared1:
I'll probably get :scared: and :tiptoe: to the "chicken" exit.

Hehe, do it! I prefer the DLP one as well...it doesn't seem as intense when the drops happen, more bouncy. I still scream like a baby, but it's happy screams... :rotfl2:
