Here is a project after my own heart :lovestruc My goal is to make 5 for the CT athletes by Feb. and at least one this weekend when I am in SC visiting my dad and i will have him mail that one to the local SC special olympic team. I think i will try and teach Logan to knit and see if he wants to try and make one. He know a lot of the athletes from my job and would think its cool. Anyone else going to make at least one??? COME ON... I dare ya!!! ;)
Jennifer

I'll contact you and get more specifics.

Size GuidelinesYour scarf should be between 54" and 60" long, and approximately 6" wide.

Please include fringe or other adornments within these measurements.

Pattern GuidelinesYou are welcome to knit or crochet any pattern that you choose or want to create on your own.

We encourage you to get creative! We have posted many photos in the 2011 Photo Gallery on our website here where you can get ideas from your fellow knitters and crocheters.

I wish I could knit! I will see if my sister has time to make a few! :goodvibes

Jen - i will try and get to Joann's during my lunch break tomorrow and get some yarn. Now this is my kind of challenge - have been knitting for 30 yrs, it is my tension reliever.

I don't knit, but Jen or Caroline I could send you some $ to buy the yarn...let me know!

Oh SO NOT NECESSARY!!! The yarn is so cheep and I like to have a "challenge" so I get off my but and actually do it! :rotfl2: I started last night and I am going to see if i can get the needles onto the plane on the way to NC. worse-case scenario is they take my $4.00 needles :confused3

I would love to learn how to crochet and make granny square scarves - they look so pretty.

Jennifer

ok, well let me know if I can help down the road!!

Got the yarn today at Michael's - 1 skein of each color @ $2.47 each. Hey Lisa - I'll be happy to knit one for you too.
You know, i never learned to crochet. Since I am a leftie, i sat across from my knitting instructor and learned that way - that was before my oldest was born - so, over 31 yrs ago.

They sell wooden needles that they will allow you to take on the plane- you might want to get a set as the metal ones are normally confiscated.

I am SOOOOO in and I have emailed my knitting friends as well :)

Hey Lisa- the scarf is under way. Instead of sending money, let me make your scarf in memory of Jim. I'll take a picture when I finish.
Ryan - i love knitting too. In fact, in the winter, I often put aside my scrapping to knit. Going down to work on it in a few minutes.

Oh Caroline, thank you so much for remembering him yet again :love::hug:

Hey Jen - have a great flight and enjoy your time with Dad!!
Got about 7 inches done tonight - decided to try my own pattern instead of the ones listed. If I can be original, then it is often more fun.
Lisa - I am happy to do it!!
A few yrs ago I got these lighted tip needles (batteries in them) and never tried them - they are working now. So much easier to see at night where I am and what the stitches are. Ryan - have you ever tried them?

This is a wonderful project, and on behalf of many of the Special Athletes I know, thank you.

Caroline, I can sooo see you knitting with your needles flashing away!!

Hey Lisa - i do love knitting. About halfway finished with the first scarf - tried my own pattern using their specified yarn. Now if i could only scrap as diligently.....
