I think I have the swine flu and i am scared I am going to die cuse I am in the agre group that died from it

Take a deep breath. Most people do not die from the swine flu. The majority of people who do have it that seriously have underlying conditions like asthma. The majority of peopel who get it are miserable for a few days, and then are back to normal. In fact, many say it's not even as bad as the regular flu.

Call your doctor and find out what if anything they want you to do. If you are high risk (have an underlying medical condition) they may recommend Tamiflu. Get lots of rest, drink plenty of fluids, and try not to stress yourself out. You'll be okay.

Eeyores Butterfly is right. :goodvibes

I am too sleepy to google a link for you right now, but only about 1% of patients with H1N1 flu need to be hospitalized. Of those, only about 30% end up in ICU, and OF THOSE, only a small percentage actually die. So if 2000 people have the disease, 20 might be hospitalized, 6 end up in ICU and 1 might die.

Compare that to the fact that 1 of every 60 people born today will die in a car accident. That's 1 in 2000 for swine flu, 1 in 60 for car wrecks. But we aren't scared to ride in cars.

It's very likely that you will have a mild self-limiting illness. However, as no one can tell which one that 1 in 2000 will be, if you have any concerns, call your doctor.

I hope you're feeling better soon!

Brittany,

It can be scary to be sick. As it was said before most people recover through H1N1 fine. Get lots of sleep and fluids. If you are scared you can call your doctor. JThe thing to keep an eye out for a secondary infection and see a doctor if you think that is developing (you are getting better then get a fever or other symptoms back). You know your body and if you are worried call your doctor for reasurrance. I am sorry you are sick.

Hugs to you to feel better really soon!!

We just got over it and my daughter is in a high risk catagory and was just fine---there is SO much hype on the news about it when the truth is it is just a flu--some people die from the flu and they die from this but most people dont! There are kids in my daughters school that they didn't even know they had it until they were tested and tested positive- very little symptoms! My daughter had a fever for ONE day and was up and moving by the next day- me it took three days to get out of bed but after the three days it was fine. Right now we have 150 kids out of 400 in the school out with swine and they are all doing fine...in a neighboring district they have a kindergarten class with 6 kids out of 22 in school, all the rest out with swine....I wouldn't sweat it!

OK, first, just calm down, no sense in getting worked up. If you are feeling very ill, go to the Dr.If you have the Swine Flu, you will get Tamiflu and have to take it easy. As said before the people who did die from it had a contributing factor. It may just be the basic flu, a lot of people are getting sick around this time so just relax and take care of yourself.

Remember to drink soothing liquids like tea and juice, and even though the holidays and end of term exams are hectic, it is important to not overwork yourself, get plenty of sleep, that helps immunity.

Talk to your Dr about Tamiflu- it really messed up my daughters stomach- its VERY hard on children!

If you're that frightened, you need to see your doctor.. Haven't you been sick for a few days now? I thought I remembered seeing another post where you said you weren't feeling well.. If you can't get in to see your doctor, how about an Urgent Care Center? No appointments needed..

Eeoyres is 100% correct. As a matter of fact I have asthma and had it. I am here still. So don't get so worked up over it. Relax.

Calm down. You'll be fine. Unless you have something else wrong also, the chances that you'll die from it are slim.

Honestly, I'd be more concerned with the fact that your user name appears to be your full name.

Don't worry, you'll be fine. :goodvibes I'm pregnant, have asthma and a somewhat compromised immune system and I'm recovering just fine from H1N1. In fact, I had the regular flu this past March and it was much, much worse.

okay you are right my sn should not have been my name to be

Brittany, my 7 year old son had it for 7 days with 2 dr trips and I'm 30 and am sure I had a mild case and we are both fine now. It was scary because of how fast it came on, but by day 5 in our case most of the symptoms were gone. Take tylenol/motrin, do not take decongestants (check with dr), rest a lot, and drink plenty of fluids. If you have any pnemonia like symptoms, then I would go to a doctor. I hope you feel better soon.

My DS11 had it, and yes he was wiped out for a couple of days, but about 4 days after diagnosis he was fine. He couldn't even take the Tamiflu they gave him because it made him gag. So he toughed it out. Motrin and Tylenol for fever, plenty of water and you should be fine. Chicken soup will help, too. :goodvibes

Hope you are feeling better soon.

About your name, maybe you should contact a moderator and see if you can cancel this current name and start over with a new one. There are a lot of really great people here, but a lot of weirdos who lurk, too.
