I have my Reg. Camera ( cannon ) and My Digital Camers ( kodak ).
I want to take both but I am so scared that something will happen to the digi camera. ( airport , in the parks , losing it, breaking it , etc )
I told DH that I was only going to take our Reg Camera and he says that is okay but now I was looking at pictures on here and they are sooo clear ( like how my digi camera takes) but I am scared that something will happen to it.. I will be carrying a backpack and taking care of 2 kids. Afraid I will regret it if I do or dont.
Do you ever worry about these little things, or have any of you ever had problems carrying cameras with you?

How is it handled at the airport?
I plan to keep it with me in my carryon ( backpack ) but how do they handle it through the checking process?
I do not want it to get messed up
Sorry for the rambling.. Just worried.
Thanks for reading

I am taking my digital camera- no question! I have taken it on several trips, including Disney. Just like any other camera, you run the risk of dropping it, etc, (that could happen anywhere- my mom dropped hers in the house, not on a trip) but I wouldn't let that stop you. I carry mine on the plane and have never had a problem through security. They generally don't even take things out of the bag, unless something is questionable- then they do it in front of you. I figure it is only a camera and yes it would be expensive to replace, but I like using it more than my still camera (though I will probably bring both in case dh wants to go by himself or something does happen to the digital).
You could put it in a camera case, inside your backpack. Make sure it is cushioned and it will probably be fine.

I always take it!
WDW is the safest place I have seen.
We have left over 100 disney pins in the stroller while on rides. I have left expensive digi cameras in the stroller basket. i wouldn't worry about it.

We always take ours. Our newer one is fairly small and dh wears it in a little holster-style carrier on his belt. We've never had any problems on any of our trips with our digital cameras. If you're concerned about it getting wet, put it in a ziploc bag before getting on wet rides or when it rains (but I wouldn't recommend leaving it in one because of condensation). If you have it in a case inside you're backpack though, it will be fine.

As far as the airport goes, because it's digital, going through the xray machine won't hurt it a bit.

My advice? Bring it, don't worry, and have fun! :flower:

Why own a digital camera if your're not going to take it to the best place on earth to take photographs.

I took my Canon 10D Digital SLR on my last trip to WDW and shot over 1,200 pictures. I never could've done that with film and I would've missed a lot of shots.

Take the digital, you'll be sorry if you don't.

Thank You All.
Yall make me feel so much better about bringing it.
Now I am thinking about getting an extra memory card and taking bunches of pictures !!!!! :cheer2:
Thanks again!

I only brought my Kodak digital with me this time. And it was fine. Actually it was more than fine. It takes such clear photo's and having the added bonus of seeing my photo's after I take them meant that If it was blurry ( on the safari in AK this was used a lot) I could delete the photo. I kept mine in its case and then it was in my fanny pack on my DH or in my bag I had with me.

The only thing that I found was I was glad I brought a extra lithium battery for it. It started to run out while I was there and the camera shops didnt seem to have the type my kodak digital takes.

Take your digital camera!!!! You'll want to take many photos at the parks and other places. I've taken digital camera's to Disney and can't remember having a problem with it. I carry arround a big camera and still haven't had any trouble. I think you'll regret it if you don't.

I've always taken my digital & will be taking it again this July! Never had any problems. I keep it in a small camera bag, which I throw in my backpack. At the airport I just put my backpack (with camera in it) on the conveyer belt & it's scanned without any problem. I usually take my backpack (it's a small one) on the rides. If I'm going on a wet ride (ie. Splash Mtn., Kali River Rapids) I'll stick the camer bag in a ziplock bag to be sure it doesn't get wet.
I think you would be fine taking the digital. Have fun snappin' those photos!

I take my digital camera (that cost me a small fortune) and small sized video camera. I purchased these so I could take great pictures, so leaving them at home in fear would not do me any good. We have 2 young children and still manage to keep track of our cameras. I keep them as a carry on when flying and we keep them in a water tight camera bag when out and about.

Both my DH and I took our digital cameras when we went in January and will do so again when we go in June. We both carry our cameras on. It was so much more convenient than taking our film camera. And our pictures were AMAZING!!! Does your backpack have a padded area that you can carry it in? Where would you carry your film camera. Please reconsider taking your digi, you really won't regret it.

Half the reason I even wanted the digital camera I got (Kodak DX7590 Digital Camera ) was to be able to take it to WDW!! :) However, I do have the same concerns as you as far as keeping it safe. The other posters have given good advice though!
