Scared to death...anything like this happen to you??

Two quick stories..... When I was about 13 and babysitting I was sitting in the family room.... there was a large sliding door with the curtain closed next to me (facing the backyard). About 11 pm there was a sharp knocking at this door. I was TERRIFIED! I couldn't even get myself to open the curtain and look out. I called my folks (who lived across the street) and they just told me to look out (bad advise, in my opinion). Well, a trash bag had fallen over and a glass baby food jar had rolled out and hit the slider... the wind made it hit more than once. Oh well.

When I was really little (maybe 7 or 10) I collected a large quantity of rocks one day. My Mom gave me one of my dad's old metal lunchboxes to put them in. I put them on the foot of my bed that night (um, hello, why??). Well, as you can guess, when I kicked that box off during the night it made a LARGE racket. I was PARALYZED with fear. But no one else in the house heard it!! I didn't even know what it was until morning, when I finally had the nerve to get up and look!......................P

Well, we tend to sleep through things that would wake the dead. About 3 years ago we had a terrible ice storm. It happened at night, so we didn't know what was going on. In the middle of the night, I hear a tremendous boom--one of the loudest noises I've ever heard. I sat straight up in bed and Mac, my Scottie started to bark like crazy. Mac's barking woke hubby up, who proceeded to yell and cuss at Mac to hush -- he didn't want the dog to wake my mom who was visiting. I tell hubby I heard a loud noise outside. He tells me I was dreaming. We pull Mac into the bed with us and immediately drop off to sleep. Hubby wakes up the next morning and sees the ice out the front windows. I jump up and look out the back to see a huge uprooted tree in my neighbor's back yard and boards and brick all over the yard. An 80 foot oak fell, hit the neighbor's sunporch, bounced and landed nicely between our two houses (hitting our roof and chimney in the process.) That was the noise I heard and Mac barked at. My mother, who was in the room nearest the chimney slept through the whole thing. Luckily, my neighbors were not home and damage was restricted to their covered porch.

I was helping a roommate move in and noticed her cookbooks looked funny - purple stains. She told me about how she and a former roommate had been asleep and a bottle of homemade blackberry wine (or brandy? I can't remember) exploded in their kitchen. They both ran out to the kitchen and there was no question about what it was because the cupboard door had blown open and the entire kitchen was purple.

Our Christmas tree fell down last year at 3am, set off house alarm too.
Wow scared the heck out of us.

not this year, its tied to the wall.
