Scarborough town centre new mickey store opening

Hey fellow Canadaians...Just wanted to let u all know that the Disney Store..now being called the Mickey Store has finished renovations and is doing a soft opening on Friday August 26th...I am a cast member there and saw peeks of the new look and it is amazing...there will be a grand opening later with maybe some special guests..just thought i give u guys a heads up

We recently booked our first trip to WDW and Disney cruise so as you can guess I am very Disney driven. Last week I went on a shopping trip with four friends to Toronto and I dragged them to three malls (1st Yorkdale - Disney store closed / 2nd Scarborough Town - Disney store closed / 3rd Fairview - Disney store opened

Any info on the Grand opening would be great. Also what is a soft opening, worth coming to??? I resisted buying princess costumes, hoping there would be opening store bargains/sales (one can dream!!).

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Yorkdale Disney store has been closed for renovations and that the Square One store will be closing soon, as well. They want to update the look since it's over 10 years old. Also, rumour has it that there will be a Disney store Opening in Barrie (May 2006) and a store in Sherway Gradens and Bramalea City Center by the end of 2006. The Vaughan Mills Store will be having soft openings in September and the official grand opeing will be early October (with special appearances by Mickey and Minnie themselves). When I find out more info, I'll let you all know!!

YEAH!!! A Disney store in Barrie. I am so happy. I bet it will be in the Georgian Mall as it is under extensive remodeling.

A soft opening is when we open just to give the cast a taste of how we talk to guests and how to service and help them..the grand opening is slated for so far September 18...yes we are planning to have mickey and minnie be there to open the store and give guests a chance to meet and have pictures taken..there might be more goodies and special promotions but nothing so far...will let u know later when i get more details later...by Friday we should know more. Come by the store and i'm sure we can tell u more between Friday and September 18...yes there is a store coming to Barrie i believe possibly late spring..and yes Vaughn Mills is opening an Outlet store in late September sometime...Yorkdale should be opening up again somewhere around that time too.

Whoa... back of the train there, Tig1!!! They've changed the name of the store too? What's that all about? TCP actually decided to call it the Mickey Store?

Oh and btw, Tig, I'm passing on my former job, of letting all the people on this board know about sales at the store, to you. Obviously, being down here in Florida, it's a little hard for me to do that. I'll just try and keep everyone updated on what's happening down here. Probably too big of a task, but I'll try.

Hey evil Queen sorry it is still the Disney store...but looks like a giant mickey head..it is amazing and don't wanna ruin the surprise for everyone but you will see by friday how much it has changed..also with Mickey and Minnie coming on the 18th of September expect long lines..but always have fun...there will be lots of fun there i'm sure

The store has officially open on Friday..no special guests but u do get to see the new store..Grand opening is still going to be Sept 18 with mickey and minnie there to greet everyone that day...expect long delays but worth the wait to see mickey and minnie

I was over there on my lunch and I did not see any pins....

BUT there were some decent deals -

Adult Tshirts 2 for $25
Kid Tshirts 3 for $30
Large plushes 2 for $25

Kids lunch "boxes" (plastic with a drink bottle but really nice) half price
Kids backpacks half price

And lots more....

There even have some nightmare before christmas antenna toppers and ceramic mugs (and I rarely see NBC stuff)

They also carry the mickey head shaped lollypops, lots of different antenna toppers, mugs, picture frams, costumes, plushes, kids pajamas, and so much more.

I like the new look, very open and clean - lots of white space but I do miss the large "icon" things they used to have around the top of the store.

Over all, my opinion is that the refurbishment was done well and even the staff seemed happy, and approachable and I was greeted as I entered the store.

Just back and found the same as princesstrisha. I did ask a few of the CM's if they knew who Tig1 is and they didn't know and had never heard of the Disboards. I think I spoke to Tina/Manager.

It looks great and my youngest really wanted the captain hook costume, but it was $51.50, plus the hat at $14.50, and the sword and other hand stuff were over $10. I couldn't see spending all that for a Hallowe'en costume.

I didn't buy anything this time as the line was too long, but it looks great!

Sounds great with all these new store openings. I've sort of lost track. I was part of the Opening Cast for the first Disney Store in Canada at Eaton Centre. Quite an exciting time ;-))

I didn't work Friday..had a family situation but working the week-end...there will be more Nightmare stuff...a big table actually we have the stuff but can't get it out not enough room for it..nice goblets with sally and Jack on it..a snowglobe and candles..backpacks and lunchtotes almost gone with the 50% off

Awwww..... my old store has re-opened. Sad that I had to miss the re-opening. I'd love to see some pics. Hey, Tig1... where are my photos? I can't believe that Tina didn't know about the boards or who Tig1 was. I wonder if someone goes in and asks for Evil Queen again if they will remember me. They'd better.
