Here's the story:

Just purchased a new 'BIG GIRL' bedroom set for my 3yr and let her pick out the bedding. She picked a real cute set out with tons of flowers in bright (but not 'standard') shades. I have been having a hard time finding artwork that matches (YES, I am completely anal when it comes to coordinating things). What I'm thinking of doing is scanning a few parts of the sheet set and then blowing it up (as much as it will allow me) and getting the images printed to photo paper. I being completely and totally off the wall thinking this will work??

Has anyone out there ever tried this? If so, how did it turn out... if not, then I am figuring the whole thing couldn't cost me more than an hour to scan and manipulate the image and then about $.29 - $1.29 a copy at Wal-mart. Think it's worth a try?

Thx! Mary

My mom has scanned fabric with great success. It won't hurt to try! Good luck!

How closely the color will match is going to depend on two things. 1) The settings on the scanner and printer and 2) how close you require the match. Generally it would be "close enough" - but based on your original post I don't know if it will be close enough for you!

I have scanned lots of patches, etc. in scrapping my kids Scout stuff and been pleased with the results. I generally don't bother to print those on photo paper though - but plain white card stock because it is for accent.

Give it a try!

Don't forget if you do scan it you can lighten/darken it before you print it if it doesn't seem right to you.

My DD recently scanned a large sheet of birch bark (yup, right off a dead tree) for a school project... it came out great!.........P

Great ... I will be heading out this afternoon to give it a try. Thx for the tips!
