There is a clothing company that has ads on this site, and I want to warn everyone that the merchandise either doesn’t come or isn’t as pictured. I decided to research before making a purchase, and I’m glad I did. The company’s name changes often - it’s “dearonce” now and the clothes pictured are cute but beware!

This is a good reminder that if you don't recognize the name on the ad, stay clear. Most clothing websites that advertise on social media are scams or VERY poor quality.

always do a google search for companies you're not familiar with. Most of them are too good to be true.

Remember sites like DIS use third party ad services. DIS has no part in reviewing companies which show ads. Obviously that doesn't include banner ads for dreamsunlimited or board sponsors

To add to that a lot of times the ads are based on stuff you have used google to search for. I'm seeing ad's for ASICS sneakers and I recently bought a pair from them directly. If I had done a search for "sneakers" I might be seeing ads for New Balance, Nike, or even a Dicks Sporting Goods ad for sneakers

I use privacy settings and generally use a privacy search engine, duckduckgo.

I don't generally get targeted ads. A few years ago I was getting adult ads on DIS. I assume the ad server saw I was reading about fantasy land and made a connection.
I reported to a webmaster on DIS. I thought it was funny but thought some DIS members might have issues with it
