I'm trying to get ready for the holidays, and would love to hear any ideas for gifts to make my family! I'm thinking about making 12x12 s/b pages & framing them. But, I'm not sure. Very open to suggestions!

Thanks!:Pinkbounc

I made doormats one year. I bought jute mats and stitched on them with strips of fabric.

Another year I made brownie mix in a jar. There are lots of recipes for jar mixes at www.recipegoldmine.com.

Last year I made fleece throws from a print fleece and a solid fleece. They have fringe all around and are made without sewing (my kids use theirs every day).

Once my husband cut Santas out of wood and I painted them.

I also appliqued throws one year and they turned out really cute. I did a simple angel design and sewed on buttons for her hair.

Last year, I made my kids each a scrapbook of their lives with the promise to keep it updated for them.

I painted a wooden dowel Christmas tree the year my FIL had his stroke and was in the hospital. We decorated it with cinnamon/applesauce ornaments we made, and took it to him in his rehab center.

Last year I made little recipe books using SB materials. I took a class to learn how to make them, and they were really fun. I think I made 3 total. I made two of those little scrapbooks for a baby gift that I learned how to make on a thread posted here. (I tried to search for it, but no luck...I think I have the directions saved though, so PM me if you are interested) They went together really fast, and I think they would make cute gifts, you could put pictures in them or give them empty. Plus both of these projects were a good way to use up extra SB supplies. My friend saves her empty bottles/jars throughout the year and makes homemade Kahlua every year, and uses her SB supplies to make labels on the bottles. They turn out really cute. I usually make most of our holiday gifts. It started when we first married to save money, and now everyone seems to expect something homemade, and appears disappointed if it's not.

Here are a couple websites you might check out for ideas:

Good Luck!

I made up the poem to fit the pictures... then took pictures for words that I had nothing for.

A is for Angels that we are every day
B is for bubbles floating away
C is for Christmas and the Joy of Surprises
D is playing dress up and all it comprises.....

Then did it in a CM Sentiments (5 x 7 album - they are 7 x 7 now) and gave it to my mom and dad for Christmas. She thought it was wonderful. When she goes on trips to see old friends, she takes it with her to show them her grandchildren.

Hi

Here is a link to the Thread about the Mini Albums we made at a Crop here in the UK. They are easily put together and really great as gifts.

Mini Albums

I am making some up for my Son and Daughter - they are grown up and have just both moved into their own homes, they keep phoning for quick instructions over the phone for recipes/menus of their favourite meals - so I thought as a small gift for Christmas I would make an album up and include all their favourites :)

Hope this helps you

what a great idea Janice, I still have to phone my mum every single time I make Yorkshire puddings (which is not often now that I've discovered you can buy the frozen...)

Janice-

Thanks for posting the link to the mini album thread! I couldn't seem to find it last nite. The instructions were great and easy to follow by the way, I made two mini albums in an afternoon, and my friend was thrilled with them.

Take Care,
Candi

My sister and I did a 5X7 album for our Grandmother's 80th b-day, and a 12X12 for our parent's 40th anniversary. We also did a Mrs. Grossman's calendar for our Grandma for X-mas last year. She comments on it all the time, so we're doing one again this year. Unfortunately, Mrs. G isn't going to have one this year, so I bought a blank 12X12 calendar at a LS.

My sister has done a ton of the small books for her DH's family as gifts. The new CM 7X7 size is great!
