and started to put together my very "first" scrapbook. (Ok, it's not really my first, I was digging around in the basement and found about 3 that I had put together in high school -- way back before scrapbooking was an "industry").

I've probably done about 10 pages. And honestly very few of them look all that spectacular (like those examples I've seen in books). Some are just maps through the years and resort newsletters that I've kept.

I probably have two pages that could pass as "real scrapbooking"

But I'm really proud of myself for starting. (of course I've started a scrapbook, but lost a dining room table in the process).

Thanks to everyone here for all their helpful tips and such. I would NEVER have started this one (it was way to scary for me) if it weren't for you!

It is great to get started isn't it! I have completed almost 3 albums to date. I am starting a new album-just went shopping for stuff on the weekend, that is half of the fun! I decided to go through all of my pictures-about 12 years worth, I had to dig trhough my hope chest and realized that I was cut out for this as well even before it became a big industry, I have so many mementoes and souviners and clippings, ribbons, pictures and so on! I am so glad that it is in my nature to save these things as I love having them to look back through. Problem is I am only 28- where am I going to put another 60 years worth of memories!! My hope chest is full right to the top-got it when I was ten, looks like I am going to need another one, Happy Scrapping

Welcome to this fun and addicting hobby. I agree that the first few pages are the scariest. My intentions were to make one, and only one scrapbook of my cruise. I didn't want to make a mistake so I decided to practice making a scrapbook before I started on the cruise one. Five books later I am hooked bad. I keep planning more and more books. I hope I never run out of things to scrap.

Welcome to the addictive world of scrapbooking. Also thank you so much for the great "Your Part of the World" package. I love all my goodies.

Welcome to scrapbooking :) I just started myself this month too, I went to a class and it was a blast!

Congratulations on your decision to join the rest of us "sickies". You won't be sorry!! I've been living with this addiction now for over 3 years.;)

WooHoo Liz!
I am so proud of you!! Don't fret - your scrapbooks are a reflection of YOU - the people who do the pages in the magazines have never experienced your life, it's all yours. (Or at least that's what I tell myself when I peruse through the books and start to stress that my pages will never look like that.) You'll find your own stride and style as you do more pages - and I'm sure they are very lovely scrapbooks!

It's always good to hear about somene new getting started! Those first couple of pages are scary....I know I did "practice pages" before I started on anything that was really important to me. Best wishes as you continue your album!

Pam thanks for your words.

My book will NEVER look like a magazine. But it does show "me". A little off center...a little messy...full of information! :)

I've got a good deal to go, but I've done quite a bit too.

And I've got a 1/2 day tomorrow where I can work on it! :D
