Wow, I hope I can remember everything that has come to mind over the last 11 pages!
I resent having to defend being a Christian (not 'born-again') and how Christmas is so un-PC when the 1st graders here have units on every other December holiday.
The correct order for my children is college--marriage--then babies.
I think gay couples should be allowed civil unions, but I am still up in the air about church ceremonies.
I am disturbed that my mother wants to change from her church because they hired a lesbian pastor, but she's 73 and I don't want to argue with her about it.
Why won't anyone tell all these old men that black socks don't look good with sandals?????
Some fellow soccer moms are cool and some are Satan.
I vote for the best candidate at the time, regardless of party, although I'm leaning to the right lately. I voted for GWB because it was an anti-Kerry vote. I'm disappointed in GWB right now for several reasons. I voted for Clinton twice but am ashamed to admit it because he turned out to be morally bankrupt.
I hate that I have to figure out how to put 3 kids through college and save for retirement and that my benefits won't pay for DH's health care when I retire.
I think health care is the #1 problem in the USA and we need to do something about it so everyone has it and it is affordable.
The state of Ohio has their head up their butt when it comes to school funding.
Smoking is bad, wrong, stupid, etc.
Parents who smoke pot with their kids should lose custody immediately.
Parents who buy cigarettes for their kids should be fined.
It drives me nuts when people let their 18 year olds (or older)who live at home run roughshod over them, and wimp out by saying "he's 18, what can I do?" Your house, your rules! If he can't follow them, make him move out!
I love that technology allows me to listen to only songs I like when I am walking (mini Ipod) rather than constantly changing channels on a radio walkman.
I love that technology lets me drive to work without once hearing a disc jockey and only listening to what I want to (satellite radio).
I love that since I have been born brilliant minds have given me those two things, plus the microwave oven, DVDs, and digital cameras.
I wish the kids down the street who are DS's age wouldn't just ignore him because he'd rather play spies or pirates or some other imaginative game than ride bikes all day.
I wish the ophthamologist wouldn't have told DH to buy an XBox or something for DS to improve hand-eye coordination, and I'm glad that so far I've been able to limit our video games to gameboy.
Most of the students I have at the HS level who play a LOT of video games are chubby. I think the video game development over the last 20 years is directly related to childhood obesity.
There is way too big of a drinking problem at my school.
I wish our curriculum department heads would just leave me alone and let the teachers teach.
I wish my 13 year old DD had not developed such a huge chest this early, and I hope she can tell which boys in HS want to date her for herself and which ones are just interested in that.
I wish I had the self-confidence my 13 year old has!!!
I would never date an african-american man, but the reason is not racist; they are just not physically attractive to me.
I love reading Rosie O'Donnell's blog but she is crazy.
People who sexually abuse children should be ,ahem, "neutered". But if a family lets their 14 year old daughter date an 18 year old boy and then calls the cops if they get intimate, I don't think that boy should be labeled a sex offender.
I feel left out when people talk about their dysfunctional families because my family is very normal. I also feel very blessed by the same thing.
I hate being overweight but I know enough about myself to realize I'm lazy and have no willpower. It is not the fault of McDonalds, or TV, or whatever. It's my own fault. I don't blame anyone but myself.
I lose my temper entirely too fast but while I spank my kids occasionally I will never, ever, slap.
I think there is way too much money paid to make everything bilingual. I don't think my tax money should go to pay for educations or starter business loans for illegal immigrants. And while I respect the teacher in the next classroom for her drive and tenacity in coming here from Pakistan, raising her kids and starting a new career at 50, I wish she'd stop printing anti-government stuff off of her computer and sending it to the printer in my classroom.
I want to pay someone to paint my house because I can't stand it and I do a crappy job.
I love summer. I don't like being cold and I love vacation. I don't want year-round school for purely selfish reasons.
Well I think that ought to do it! I really appreciate this thread and the amount of civility shown! I wonder who is being added to "ignore" lists because of it though!
