I fully believe Kerry/Edwards will deal with trade agreements, and try to do all they can to prevent US companies from moving their businesses over seas. IMO, our country desperately has to deal with these issues and while I will vote for Bush, I know he won't do a thing about this issue.

While I'm not supportive of how extensive the Bush tax cuts were, I do think that extending the amount of time one can claim a tax credit for his or her student loan interest is a great thing. Anything that makes it any easier for our kids (and their parents!) to pay for higher education is a good thing, IMO.

I am a staunch Dem, but I'd also like to make a comment on the Dem party in relation to taxes: I am not supportive of their general support for the eaned income credit for people who don't owe any Federal income tax in the first place. I also will never comprehend their stance on affirmative action. I firmly believe that affirmative action should not be based solely on race, but instead on socioeconomic status.

While I am a staunch Republican, I appreciate that Kerry & Edwards are having FUN on the campaign trail.

Another poster said (and I completely agree) that it takes courage to put your entire life out on the line for everyone to see - just for a public office. In that respect, I admire anyone willing to put their name on the ballot.

I just read an article about John Edwards wife, Elizabeth, and how gracefully they handled the tragic death of their teenage son, Wade.

And the Congressman for my district (a Democrat) and his wife are lifelong friends of mine. Although I don't agree on most of his stands on the issues, and would never vote for him, I know he's an honest, dedicated public servant who's done a remarkable job of retaining his integrity in a profession where that is difficult to do.
