is it true that you can park up at downtown disney for free --then get on a free disney shuttle bus to any of the parks --therefore saving fourteen dollars a day on your trip ????:hippie:

The DTD busses only go to resorts. They dont go to the parks or TTC any more.

I'm sure you could always get the bus from DTD to a resort then use further transport from there to the park. But for $14 a day, is it REALLY worth it?

:goodvibes

As Luke said you can if you REALLY need to save the $14 park at DTD then get a bus to a resort then to a park but you would be looking at a good 40 mins plus travel time each way and the DTD buses don't seem to start running as early as the park buses at the resort.

Personally my time is worth more than the $14 plus I can't imgaine doing the journey back when you are tired and just want to get home.

DTD bueses are the worst in my experience, seem less frequent and take ages as they go around other stops and TL. Also you won't find many buses going to resorts in the morning.

Saving money on parking options:
Consider staying onsite for free parking or using Disney transport.
Stay offsite with shuttles to parks.
Or offsite and buy annual pass.
Can't think anyone would want to use the DTD option just to save £8.50 a day, a lot of hassle.

I agree, far too much hassle!

Where are you planning on staying haggler? If you're staying onsite, I'd consider visiting the parks via the buses/boats/monorails. WDW's transportation system is great. :thumbsup2

That's many peoples opinion, we totally dislike it:rotfl2: has to be a car for me. We don't get on well with buses, even got an arrogant driver last year on the only evening we used buses.

Has to be a car for us too, hubby cannot deal with buses.
Also please don't park at DTD and use buses from there. In peak season it can be hard enough to get a parking space anyway at DTD. Imagine if everyone who wanted free parking parked there :confused3

Each to their own! :goodvibes I can see why having a car is more convenient and sometimes I wish I had one when I'm squashed up on the way back from a park. For the most part though, the various forms of transportation have worked out well for me. Maybe I will feel differently once I've experienced having a car?

That's a shame about the arrogant driver, I've only had good ones (some more friendly than others ;)).

This will be our first time onsite but unless we plan to drink (epcot) then I can see us driving 90% of the time. We just prefer the independance of being our own driver!

We hate it! It took us 90 mins to get from Epcot to the Contemporary last week! In that time I could have got back to the villa and cooked dinner! :rotfl: Personally I would pay the £8.50, not worth the hassle at all.

We love Disney Transportation!

(Except when it's going to TL/DTD though! We always had like 20 minute waits and then the journey was well over half an hour.)

Still, I love the man's voice, Jack and I often talk like him, and it makes us instantly happy!

"Welcome Aboard Disney transportation! We hope you've have a magical day at Disney's Hollywood Studios! We're on our way to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, an African paradise where wild animals roam free in the Savannah surrounding your resort. So sit back, relax and let us do the driving. You'll be home soon!"

Eeeeeeeeeeee, I cannot wait to hear him again.

I was told by a CM last year that the bus drivers at DTD check resort IDs to ensure people weren't using the buses for that purpose.
I asked as I was working out a route from OKW to WL and thought getting the boat to DTD then a bus to WL. In my case as I had an OKW resort ID and an ADR for WCC I was told I would be let on the bus.
Not sure how vigilant the bus drivers are but thought it worth mentioning...

We used the OKW - Epcot bus quite a lot so we could take advantage of the Food & Wine Festival. Worked fine - the only downside is the bus going all round the houses within OKW :lmao:

When we were there for our wedding in October 08 (staying offsite) me and my mates were drinking round epcot as my stag do, and wen we left the park (after posing for photos with Disney security - they let us wear their hats :lmao:) we asked how we could get to DTD and the disney people kindly tool us to the SSR bus! We then sat with our feet in the pool at SSR chatting to all the bemused people who were taking a late night dip :lmao: before walking over to DTD :)

Exactly! I couldn't agree more!
