I LOVE a great steak as does mom. We are taking my dd (16) and niece (13) in a couple of weeks and I have Le Cellier booked for the very first time in all of our bazillion trips. ;-) We're booked on the DxDP and it's not so much about the cost of one dining plan vs another, however we really don't want to "waste" money/credits on something that seems to be getting bad reviews all around. What's everyone's biggest issue there? I always thought it was supposed to be *amazing*?? :confused3

I didn't think the food was anything special at Le Cellier and wouldn't go back if it was 1 credit, so definitely wouldn't use 2 credits there. Two of our favorite signatures are Artist Point and Yachtsman Steakhouse, which are MUCH better (IMO) for both food and atmosphere.

Agree with PP, Le cellier is so not worth 2 credits. You really dont get the quanity nor quality there that you can at other similar places onsite.

I agree!

I personally didnt think the quality of meat was spectacular even when it was 1 TS credit for both lunch & dinner. Its way over-hyped in my opinion. Although I will say that many still love LC. Since you have the DxDP, why not give it a try? You might like it.

It's overhyped, but still decent. On DxDDP, a 2 credit restaurant isn't nearly as big of a deal as it is on DDP. I'd say give it a shot. It's not bad, but it's not quite up to the same standards as other 2 credit meals. Now, this doesn't mean it's bad, far from it, just the overhype sets unreasonable expectations a lot of times. I've had 3 meals there, twice while it was still 1 credit, once with 2, all were quite good. Only reason I haven't returned in the past couple trips has been for other options really.

However, if looking for alternatives, check out Yachtsman over at Yacht Club Resort (which is conveniently close to Epcot as well). A bit higher quality and experience at the same credit cost. It's also a steakhouse, so the general "theme" of the meal will be somewhat similar :) (e.g. you're not swapping out a steakhouse for Chinese ;))

Its an ok steak but if we had to choose to spend two credits on steak it would be yachtsman over le cellier every day

Well, now I'm getting nervous. It's hard to be the main reservation maker! ;) Not to mention, the two "adult" girls we are bringing may not be interested in a steak at all.....grrrr...

If I cancelled that for lunch one day, (and you obviously don't know all of our other ressies), give me your other favorite sit down, any park, any style.....or actually, just not in AK, lol.

My DH and I ate there and it was "meh". Not worth the hype to us. And we both agreed it is not worth 2 credits. For 2 credits we will go to Yachtsman where we aren't crammed in like sardines, actually have light to see, and have a better selection of food.

Assuming lunch, since you just cancelled lunch :p.

MK: Liberty Tree Tavern and The Plaza - both are relatively simple (though I enjoy the atmosphere in LTT) and have "easy" menus. Neither are very good value on the dining plans, but with Dx, you can get that covered elsewhere. (Note: I have no interest in the dinner menu at LTT, not a fan of Thanksgiving-style meals in general since I'm picky and don't eat cranberries, or turkey, or chicken, or fish... so your mileage may (and likely will!) vary)

EP: San Angel Inn - Hands down. Menu is a bit more difficult than you may expect, since it's much more authentic Mexican than you'd see at a local Tex-Mex type of place. It's very good though and you can't beat the atmosphere. (Note: I typically prefer the lunch menu to the dinner menu here as well).

DHS: Mama Melrose is the only place that I eat here, though Brown Derby may fit the bill as well. MM isn't anything special, but it's the best of a short list. '50s isn't bad either, but I don't really enjoy the antics. I'm a party pooper like that.

Resorts: Sanaa over at AKL-Kidani is my favorite restaurant of last trip, followed closely by Grand Floridian Cafe at the Poly (JK, it's at Grand Floridian :p). Sanaa has a great atmosphere, very tasty food, and great service. GFC is conveniently located to MK and has a nice simple menu, but was very good when I was there for dinner last year. Kona Cafe at the Poly (yes, this is actually at the Poly, not like where I lied about GFC above) is also quite good and I usually make an effort to grab both breakfast and dinner there on each trip.

My mom loves LTT at dinner, but my girl, not so much. Also not a Thanksgiving fan, BUT you are right, we are looking for lunch. ;) I've got to check their menu. Also, I was just looking at the GF Cafe over at the Boardwalk and that looks delish!!! ;) Might have to change to that....thx for your input!!
