PHILADELPHIA - Walt Disney Co. chairman and CEO Michael Eisner was handed a stinging rebuke Wednesday as shareholders withheld 43 percent their votes for his re-election to the board — an unprecedented "no confidence" vote in U.S. corporate history.

----looks like his future is looking a bit dim at Disney!

I have to sheepishly admit to not paying very much attention to Disney-related things until I'm planning a trip to WDW or Disneyland, so please pardon my ignorance on this issue.

I'm sure it's been discussed on these boards and elsewhere regularly, but can someone briefly summarize for me what everyone's issues are with Eisner, particularly as it relates to the theme parks? Or is it just a stock performance issue? I know that Roy Disney is not happy with him, but I haven't really read why. I'm not defending Eisner or anything, I'm just curious.

I wrote a whole argumentative/persuasive essay on why Eisner should be gone. His biggest thing was losing Pixar, plus poor relationships with Spielberg, Lucas, etc.

Plus the quality of the parks has diminished recently, and several of the recent attractions are just blah (Primevil Whirl, for example ;))

Although, as you read, understand that the entire website is skewed against Eisner. You can do a search on Yahoo! news or, really, any news site to give you a more balanced look at it all.
