Say Goodbye to the Disney World Hess stations!

The good: Now I can get Speedy points while on site at Disney.
The bad: Gas may be 2.29 heading into the park, and 2.89 heading out.

? I don't understand your post. The Hess/Speedway stations both onsite and off tend to be fair and competitive in terms of price. I know there are some non-Speedways that charge up to $0.90 a gallon extra for credit card and there's at least one that charges about $6/gallon on Vineland Rd., but the onsite and offsite Hess/Speedways tend to be very fair....unless that has changed.

Speedway stations in the north(OH, MI, KY, IN, IL, WV) are notorious for raising gas prices .30-.50 at a time with no notice at random times every week or two.

Living in New England, I have no real experience with any of these stations, but as long as the station by The Boardwalk stays open, with affordable gas prices, I'll be happy.

"Funny" story about the Hess station near The Boardwalk. We were in WDW in October 2012, staying at the BWV (special treat for DD's 21st birthday trip). We had been at AK all day- a Sunday, hot and tired, and stopped at the Hess station for a cold drink before getting ready to go out to dinner (Jiko- and it was fabulous!). I was SO amazed by drink machines- don't see anything like that in our neck of the woods. ANYHOW... I think it was Tuesday morning I went to use my credit card and couldn't find it anywhere. I hadn't needed it, because we were charging everything to the room. Anyhow, I remembered that I'd last used it at the Hess station on Sunday, to get drinks. WHEW!! THANKFULLY!! We drove over to the Hess station and - WAIT!! Metal gates and chains had been erected across the driveway, and all the gas pumps/tanks were being dug up. Not only was the place closed, but the entire parking/gas pump area was GONE. Along with my credit card! I called the other station but they said there was no way to find out if the Boardwalk station had found my card or not. I cancelled the card- Chase was great- and used my DH's card for the rest of our trip. It was just so funny... I'd been SO relieved to remember where my CC card was- and then the place had pretty much vanished!

Speedway is always first to raise prices around where I live...

They are notorious around here for raising the prices. They are always the first to do it and can do so because of the size of their company and others follow suite. Many around here say they set the gas price for the region. It is infuriating when it is always substantially more.

Personally I find Speedways gross. They are dingy and never taken care of and I can not remember the last time I got gas there despite there being one on every corner. Hope the ones around Disney are better looking and better taken care of than the ones here.

Despite the comments by some of the PP's, we've found the price of gas at the on property Speedways to be consistent and among the lowest of the off-property gas stations. We live just a couple of miles from MK and often fill up at one of the on-property stations along the way.

I'll miss singing Hess Express to the tune of S Express when we go by on the bus :rotfl:

Eh, you need Quicktrip to further expand and take over. Those put all other gas stations to shame.

What will become of the Hess trucks?

Some Speedways are nice, and some not so nice. In my home town they are perfectly fine and it's my morning stop.

I just hope they still sell the dunkin donuts coffee!! We stop every single morning in our trip before heading to the parks!
Our local news station just tweeted that in the next year Dunkins will be closing their stores in 100 Speedways. They didn't provide any other details but I immediately thought of this thread when I read it.

I've found that to be the case also. In case anyone is interested, the price at the two Speedways on property and the one on 536 just before you get on 417 was $1.999 (price on 9/17/2015).
