I won tickets to a screening of UP...my DH, and DS4 and DS2 and I attended...it was SO SO Good!!!! Enjoy everyone!

Congrats on winning tickets! I can't wait to see this one with the kids, it looks cute.

For me, it was one of the best I have seen...there are sad moments, but they went over my kids heads, but definitely tugged at the adults' heartstrings!

My kids loved UP! My two year old said "Funny movie" and the end and my four year old asked, "When can we go to Disney again?" He wants to see Carl and Russell, and Dug...
(Little does he know about our long weekend trip to WDW next weekend! :goodvibes)

Can you give a brief explanation of what it's about w/o giving the plot line away? I can't tell from the commercials what the point of the movie is.

Thanks!

I saw it last night also and loved it! I knew that parts would be sad after hearing the premise, but it was sadder than I expected. I was teary for a big chunk of the movie. I loved Kevin and Dug, though - they were hilarious.

2002Disneybride, did they show the short "Partly Cloudy" at your theater? I had heard that it was supposed to run with "Up" but they didn't show it at our theater. There were several previews, though, including a teaser for "Toy Story 3".

Tara619 - It is hard to sum up the movie without spoilers. But basically an older man goes on an adventure and ends up with some unusual companions, and also has to deal with a bad guy. (Vague enough? But I don't want to be too specific since I don't know what would be too spoilery!)

Yes, I loved Partly Cloudy-absolutely hysterical!!!!!!!
I cried 10 minutes in and then at the end...so did my DH.
Excellent movie...I agree though, hard to give premise without spoiling! You gave a good vague description

Did you see it in 3-D or not? I am buying advanced tickets for SUnday and I'm not sure which ones to get...it is $3 more per ticket for 3-D...

My son and I are going this Monday.. want to see it in 3D.
Have a great weekend!

We just got back and my 9 and 5 year old loved it. But it was the hubby who exclaimed "best movie ever". I can't wait to see the Up characters when we go to Disney in September. popcorn::

We saw this in 3D earlier this afternoon and loved it! :lovestruc This is classic Disney and a major tear jerker! DH and I are so in love with this movie we've already decided to be Dug and Carl for MNSSHP! :lmao: We didn't get the short cartoon though :confused3 I highly recommend this wonderful movie!

My 3 year old is really verbally advanced and gets completely engrossed in movies and therefore things in movies don't usually go over her head like they do for a lot of kids her age. Do you guys that have seen it think it would be okay to take her, or would it be too sad? She has seen the commercials on tv and wants to go.

I am planning on taking dd tomorrow

any scary parts?
any gross?
is it too 'all boy'?

A few dramatic parts - nothing horribly scary, but there are some suspenseful fight and chase scenes. Nothing at all gross that I remember. I don't think it is too boyish - I think it would appeal to boys and girls equally.

The really sad parts don't have much dialogue. I don't think a 3 year old would actually be as upset by the sad parts as an adult would, to be honest. I can PM you more details of what makes it sad if you want. Most of the movie is really fun, and though kids will probably be sad about one part toward the beginning I doubt that they would be as focused on the lingering reminders of it throughout the movie as I was. I know my son (who is 12) thought it was somewhat sad but he didn't connect with it like my husband and I did.

DH and I just got back from seeing it. MY GOSH was that heartwrenching. We were both sobbing one minute and laughing hysterically the next, over and over again. I was not expecting that. Of course, I am worse for that than a lot of people. I never cry at anything in movies - or much in real life for that matter - except for situations like in this movie, where (semi-spoiler?) one half of a couple in love dies. Heck, I even cry watching Lethal Weapon when Mel Gibson's character is talking to his wife's headstone!

The cute parts were really cute and funny. I just wasn't expecting to be so emotionally jarred by a writing staff whose previous "saddest moments" were toys mourning that their owners grew up, you know?

I just took dd (5) on a movie date night.

We paid $2.50 extra a ticket to see it presented in 3-D. They had a regular showing too.:3dglasses

My advise is if you have small kids or high prescription glasses, don't pay for the 3-d. It was nice but nothing spectacular. (the Ice Age 3 preview had more 3-d action in 45 seconds than the whole movie did!) DD kept complaining the glasses hurt her, kept taking them on and off, and then complained the lenses were greasy (we were eating popcorn) I finally told her she could leave them off. you could watch it fine w/o the glasses, the projection was a tad lighter without them and fast motion (the pop outs) had ghosted images.

Ok on to me, I have a high prescription and I found while wearing the glasses that I had trouble seeing really fast motion-objects moving fast from one part of the screen to the other.

all in all a good movie.

DD was scared about the police scene, so any child who has fears about being arrested might need reassuring.

We saw UP today and absolutely loved it! My parents actually saw it three weeks ago at PIXAR studios in California. It was a benefit showing where tickets were $275 a person and all proceeds went to the Childrens Miracle Network. They got dinner with the animators, a look at the making of the movie, access to shop in the employee only store, and of course got the see the movie in the PIXAR screening room. They saw Wall-E the same way. They didn't pay for the tickets, a friend did for my mom's birthday.

My 3yo was scared for a few parts so be prepared for that. HE loved Dug and Kevin. We went straight to the Disney Store afterwards and he got a stuffed Dug. We were disappointed that there was not any Kevin merchandise.

We are seeing it tomorrow night at the drive-in! We tried to go tonight but by the time we got there, there were no more spaces left! It's a double feature with Hannah Montana but I don't think we'll stay for that as DD and I already saw it and the boys aren't that interested, plus it's going to be late enough on a school night just seeing UP!
