They were working the Yankee Peddlar, an outdoor craft show in Canal Fulton. This is actually a pretty big event here in NE Ohio. It goes on for 3 week-ends! They have all kinds of craftsmen putting on demonstrations, music, FOOD. And get this, I saw Towncrier's DW's name on the board stating she has worked at Yankee Peddlar 30 YEARS!!! Way to go, Sue. And thanks for the tickets, guys! Being at Yankee Peddlar took my mind off the shingles! I bought a wrought iron heart-shaped hanging plant holder and a gourd that was painted to look like a penguin. Youngest DS is going to love the penguin.

WOW!!! Towncrier's DW has worked at Yankee Peddler 30 years and she's only 25! (Sue can send me her check direct :) )

How fun for you Tuffcookie!

Sounds like a nice day, TC, and even better with seeing another TC and family. Cool!!!! :bounce:

TuffCookie wish I was able to go...but the distance from MA is a little long. I love Towncrier and family. They are such sweeties!!! Congrats Sue...but there is no way you have worked there that long...you must have started working there at age 3????

Glad you had a good time TuffCookie...

I went and saw them last weekend. Took some pictures but just did not have the time to post them here.

So I am going to piggyback on your post TC :) Hope you don't mind

Here is a link... it does not have any captions on it just yet (if you are reading this later in the day.. it just might have them by then)

Yankee Peddler-Towncrier & Family

And here is the link for the Yankee Peddler Festival. Put together by the Town Crier himself (of course LOL) Yankee Peddler

We had a great time

Debbie

Thanks TC for telling us about this!

And thanks to Debbie for putting the link to the pics in!

It was so nice to see Sara again, (she makes a great Betsy Ross)!

It was great seeing TC and EKF at the festival. It makes Yankee Peddler just that much more enjoyable. I'm sorry that I didn't have much time to talk. Things can get pretty busy at the Main Inquiries booth (where Sue, her brother Phil, and her mom Marge have all worked for the past 30 festivals).

Ed (the original town crier in one of Debbie's photos) really enjoyed the copy of the photo that we gave him on Sunday. I'm a relative newcomer to the festival as this is only my 17th Peddler.

There's still one more weekend left. I believe that goofymom/pop are planning a trip to Canal Fulton for the final weekend. If anyone else is in the area and has nothing planned next Saturday or Sunday, drop on by and say hello.

One more thing. Sue was 12yo at her very first Yankee Peddler. Now DD Sarah is 12yo. Like her mother did when she was 12yo, Sarah actually sewed her own costume for the festival. I'm very proud of her for being so handy with a needle and thread (and a sewing machine).

DS James is wearing my original town crier coat this year. That original coat must have shrunk over the years. :)

John, That's great that Sarah can sew so well! I'm glad I came on Saturday. Sunday was a little wet!

I'm sure sara was a great Betsy Ross.

TC-Glad you all had a great time, and have wonderful weather for the last weekend.

Lucky you TC, aren't they the sweetest people?

Tuffcookie and I go all the way back to the very first NE Ohio DISmeet. She's one of those lifelong friends that I've met as a result of the DIS boards. Again, I was so glad that she was able to make the trip to Canal Fulton for the festival.

Thanks too for all your comments about DD's portrayl of Betsy Ross. She was featured on a local television program after the first weekend of the festival, and everyone seems to recognize her. She needs all the positive reinforcement that we can give her because all of her friends at the festival are constantly trying to get her to come and play. We keep reminding her that she is expected to be at her post from 12:30 until 4:00 and that she made a commitment to the festival organizers that she would do just that.

Hey John...have you figured out a better spot for Betsy??

Poor girl, anywhere she moved her spot it was in the blazing sun.

Debbie

Betsy has relocated to a spot right next door to Main Inquiries. There's plenty of shade and she gets lots of traffic.
