Saw SpectroMagic for the fist time. It was strange.

We didn't like Spectro at all. Not the Spectromen, not the music, not the Elton John costumes, nothing about it.

I agree with PP, bring back the Electrical Parade. Loved it as a kid but thought when we saw it again as adults that maybe it wouldn't live up to the memory. But, it was as wonderful as always. Wouldn't it be great if they made a new set of the Main Street Electrical Parade so both east and west coast have it?

How can two parades that both feature lights be sooooooo different?

Anyhow, we just ride attractions during Spectro and let others enjoy it.

I agree, the spectromen are creepy...the parade itself is nice but can't compare to Main Street Electrical Parade... when we went back to California in '04 and saw it, it was just like the first time I saw it back in 1972... the music is awesome...MSEP will always be my favorite

I could see Spectromagic just about every day and probably wouldn't get tired of it.However any of the daytime parades I can only see them every so often!!

I either read in Inside the Magic, or saw it on a travel channel show, that the parades are not on timers. They have a computer chip in the road which reads a sensor in the floats, and that triggers the music and lights as the parade moves along. I have seen Spectro take longer at times, less at others. It only makes sense that a parade can't run at exactly the same pace every night... sometimes twice.

Think it was on travel channel. It can't be exactly timed the same every night because of unforseen problems. We were there in Dec. and on of the fish got stuck in front of the castle trying to make its way up the ramp going to towards county bears. Took a good 4 minutes or so and some serious pushing to get it going. I did take a photo and if I find it I will post it.

That sounds right. Sometimes the floats break down. Once one of the fish could not make it up the slight hill at the end of Main St due to the slick road.
They had to come and pull it up. That puts the rest of the floats behind it a little late.

So --- where is the best spot to see Spectomagic and how many minutes from the published start of the parade will it be at that location?

A couple of popular spots are in front of the Hall of Presidents,
and in Frontierland, on past the Country Bears area.

Start times (assume a prompt start at the top of the hour)-

HoP area, 18 minutes after starting time.

Just past the Country Bears entrance, 24 minutes after starting time.

The above times apply UNLESS:
the fish won't swim up hills,
the batteries for the floats sponteously die,
or Main Street unexpectedly opens up like Aladdin's Cave of Wonders.

(In other words, they are pretty accurate.) ;)

Disney is amazingly accurate and consistent with their start-times.
