It was fantastic! Seems like the show just started when the curtain was dropped for intermission.

For those that don't know, it's written by the 2 men of ABBA and uses their own songs. The story is about a 20 yo girl getting married. She read her Mom's diary in an attempt to find out who her dad is/was. There are 3 men that could be;) :p . She sent them invitations and they accepted.

It's a wonderful show. A "must see" if you ever get to NYC!!

I would like to see it someday. My parents went to see it in Canada soon after it first came out.

It's coming to Pittsburgh in July! A couple of us DISers are going.

I saw this when I lived in NYC...it was a good time. I always love a show that you can get up and dance to.

I saw it in Minneapolis last Thanksgiving, I loved it!!! I listen to the sountrack all the time.

We saw it in NYC twice last year........

I play the soundtrack ALL the time!! Even at work :teeth:

For those of you who saw the show in NY, was the lead guy (I haven't seen the show, I don't know the character's name) played by Joe Machota? If so, I did high school theatre shows with him. He's really talented and has gone a long way.

I saw it two weeks ago in Toronto and loved it too!! ::yes::

We are going to see it in Hartford on June 26th which is my 6 year olds birthday. DW plays the CD in the car for the kids all the time. They love it, especially the 6 year old. So it was a no-brainer to buy tickets for it when we saw the dates it was playing. DW has been trying to figure out the story for a couple of years now. She figured most of it, but is still tryiong figure out who the father is. I guess we will find out in a few weeks. Jay

My 5 yo, too, LOVES the CD! I find it just a bit disapointing, though, since it is the London cast and not the Broadway cast. I thought the Broadway cast sounded much better. Plus, there are a few songs that are not on the CD.

I plan on taking my dd too, maybe next summer. This is one show to see more than once!::yes::

I could tell you about the "Father" if you really want to know.....;)

Thanks Kim - I think we will wait to see for ourselves who the father is. Is there anything in the show that may not be appropriate for a young kid? Mine are 6 (soon to be 7) and 8. They are pretty use to watching somewhat adult shows (Oliver, Joesph & the Technicolor Dream Coat), but we do try not to expose them to things that are too provacative. DW did some research before buying the tickets but you never know. I remember years ago taking some younger cousins to New York for a play and the actors and actresses took off their clothes. The kids still talk about it now that they are adults.

No, it's pretty tame!

There is one sceen where she & one of the men "pretend" to roll a joint, but I doubt kids would pick this up. It's part of a song and happend pretty fast.

The only other part is that well, the main character was "with" 3 guys in a short period of time. Your kids are fairly young, so they may not put "2 and 2" together. ;)

I'd not hesitate to take my 5 yo, thought, I'd probably hesitate if she were around the 12-14 age range.

Was the song "Mama Mia" written for the show, or was it an old ABBA song? I thought all the songs were old ABBA songs, but "Mama Mia" just isn't familiar to me from the past.

Momma Mia was an old ABBA song. I remember it from way back. It may have been one of their earliest hits. The amazing thing about the group is that they were so big all over the world. They made a tremendious amount of money. Now this musical is one of the biggest in the world too. Someone recently offered the group $1 billon to reunite and they turned it down. They just do not need the money or the hassels of returning to the spotlight.
