I'm an AP holder/FL resident and have been for several years now. I'm ashamed to admit, but I had never seen Fantasmic before this past weekend.

MGM had sort of run its course for me, as I don't visit there too often (maybe twice a year at this point, for Star Wars weekends and ESPN Weekend and to get my Rock & Rollercoaster fix). But I finally decided to catch Fantasmic this past Saturday night.

It was INCREDIBLE. What a show. I can't tell you how impressed I was. Fantasmic, all by itself, now elevates MGM up several notches for me and makes it a park I'd like to visit a little more often now.

The projection onto the waterwall technology is awesome. The story is engaging.

But the props - WOW - some of the absolute COOLEST stuff WDW has done, anywhere. The Jafar snake and Maleficent dragon in particular - AWESOME.

For anyone who has not seen this show and plans to go to the MGM as part of your trip - DON'T MISS IT!

Welcome to the Fantasmic! Fan Club.

We see it several times on each WDW trip.

You now need to see the ORIGINAL version of Fantasmic! at Disneyland... believe or not, its BETTER!

Thanks for the reveiw, Mick! I haven't seen it, yet. I think it was relatively new when I went last time, 8 years ago. I am REALLY looking forward to it now...

We are going on this trip with two other families. One family, their 5 y/o twins are weary of anything too scary.... they don't like the witch in the Snow White movie. How do you think they'll fare?

I do think the show is great as well. HOwever, after seeing the same show for so long, I wish it would get a bit of a change to include some more classic Disney characters such as Peter Pan (as at DL).

The Mick, my boyfriend and I are also AP holders (for years!) and we go to WDW all the time, and we've never seen Fantasmic either! I think the whole thing of having to stake out your place two hours before or do the dining thing kind of keeps us pushing it back. You know, we'll see it next month... Plus, MGM is our least favorite park, so we don't go there often.

We're going to DLR next week, though, and they just added a Fantasmic show for the Friday that we're there, so we may see that one first, then go to the MGM one when the weather here is cooler.

Glad we're not the only AP holders who waited so long to see it! Hehehehe! I don't feel so bad now. Thanks for sharing.

We're seeing it for the first time, also, next week.. and I live in Florida.. and I've visited over 20 times. Hahaha.

(go us Fantasmic newbs!)

Well, it could be scary for them, unfortunately. The Witch plays a role in this show too, actually...both a costumed character and the cartoon witch is projected onto the huge waterwall. And if she scares them, the snake and dragon may too.

BUT, there were many, many kids that age there and none I saw seemed to scared.

I'd go and claim you heard it wasn't too bad. ;)

An hour or so before show-time (unless its just horrendously busy that night) should be just fine for good seats.
We eat our evening meal after we arrive (consession stands the theater) to help pass the time.

GREAT show, but be aware there is NO THEATER in DL.
Thousands upon thousands of guests, some of whom arrive up to 2 to 3 hours early, just standing/sitting on the ground around the Rivers of America (Tom Sawyer's Island) waiting for the show (which lasts nearly 30 minutes in itself)!

Yes, the DL version is a better show, but WDW's has MUCH better seats!

Thanks for the tips, Robo. If we don't get to see it at DL (I'm not very patient...I don't like to sit around and wait)...we'll definitely see it at MGM before the year is out. I think I can handle an hour wait, especially if I'm eating! Hehehe!

I live about 2 hours from WDW, and I've been there about 30 times over the past nearly 5 years (MOST of them were for SWW; don't hate me) and I've never seen Fantasmic! there. I went on a special trip to DLR with just my dad last December, and we saw Fantasmic! there. I LOVED it! I made my dad watch it again the next night too! :rotfl:

We took are family of 4 to see it last year and my 6 and 7yr cannot wait to go back!!! They talk about Fantasmic all the time!!!

WE love fantasmic and cant wait to see it again in December

It was by far our favorite night show!!! My 8 year old thought it was the coolest thing ever! I can't wait to see this one again!
If you are worried about the little ones freaking out, sit by a aisle so you canleave quickly if they get frightened.
And why not book a Fantasmic dining package? Then you do nto have to wait nearly as long! Just a thought...

Oh I adore, absolutely adore the show. I'm really excited about taking my mom to see the show for her first time. I really can't wait! :Pinkbounc

I love the show! Sometimes I go to MGM in the evening JUST to go into the Fantasmic theater. I arrive an hour before showtime, buy a hotdog and a coke and wait for the show to start, see it and head home.

We were playing mini-golf at the Fantasia Gardens the other night and then Fantasmic started and you could hear the music while we were playing golf. I loved it!

My sis and I LOVE Fantasmic! We saw it 6 times during our 10 night stay. The other 4 evenings were reserved to see Spectro magic (2 times) and MNSSHP (2 times)!!!!! I do wish that MGM would bring back the boat at the finaly. Any news on that? Anyone??

My family just LOVES Fantasmic! So it's a must for us every trip. We did the Fantasmic Dining Package or whatever and we were able to walk in early and get the seats we wanted instead of waiting an hour or two to be herded into the theater with everyone else! I love Fantasmic so much that I have it as my ringtone so I can get my Disney fix every time someone calls! :wizard:

Several posts have mentioned the Dining Package (DP) and how it affects the "waiting time" at the theater.

You should know that DP does not get you into the theater earlier than anyone else.
There is no "line" for regular guests waiting outside the theater for Fantasmic! (this is for the first show of the evening or the only show of the evening).
They simply open the gate at the approach to the theater about an hour before show-time (sometimes earlier, if its busy) and guests can then just walk on in and find a seat of their choice.

No one can predict EXACTLY how large the crowds will be or how early you should go to find a seat for Fantasmic! on any given day.
It has totally to do with the whim of the crowd at MGM on that day, and the general crowd LEVELS.
How much time you wish to "invest" in waiting is a personal decision. We never do the formal Dinner Package, and have always seen the show (dozens of times).

(Take all of these as "average" numbers, sometimes the crowd will be MUCH greater and the theater can fill up much sooner.)

VERY Busy days:
If you go to the first show of the evening (or "only" show that evening), if you arrive about 75-120 minutes before show-time, you can sit just about anywhere.
45-60 minutes before: Good seats
20-40 Minutes: will vary between seats at edges and rear of theater to SRO or even "closed" to further guests.

Busy days:
If you go to the first show of the evening (or "only" show that evening), if you arrive about 50-60 minutes before show-time, you can sit just about anywhere.
40 minutes before: Good seats
25-35 Minutes: will vary between seats at edges and rear of theater to SRO or even "closed" to further guests. (The crowd of "last-minute" arrivals can be slow to get seated before show-time.)

Off-Season (not busy days):
You should be OK to enter by 10-20 minutes before, but you'll likely be seated to the outer edges, and/or way at the back.

If you do the Fantasmic! Dinner Pkg. you still SHOULD enter by AT LEAST 35 minutes (much "safer" at 45 minutes) before show-time and still be guaranteed "pretty good" seats (not my "first choice" area, but fine), regardless of crowd-levels. Remember, the DP is only valid for the first show of the evening, if there are 2 or more. If you do have DP and you spy some seats outside the DP "reserved" area, you are free to choose to sit anywhere outside that area you like, no problem.

If there are TWO Fantasmic! shows in one evening, the second one will have lower crowd level than the first one. You can arrive a bit later and still find a seat.

Be aware that the second show waiting area will LOOK like the show is "too crowded".
That's because they HOLD the 2nd crowd outside the theater while the CMs CLEAN it after the first crowd has exited.

Then, they will let those waiting together in that big group IN... all at once, and there will be PLENTY of room.

(The theater holds 10,000 guests!)

We like to eat our evening meal while waiting for Fantasmic! to start.
You can bring in items from the counter-service places in MGM, or they DO have concession stands at the rear of the theater serving "baseball stadium-type" food and drinks. Yes, even beer, sold strictly ONE-at-a-time, one-only-to-a-person, so a single person can't go and buy beer for other members of a group... all guests wanting to buy a beer must be present in-person at the counter.
We have a hot dog, maybe a pretzel, later some popcorn or cotton candy (Disney Health Food).

Hi! Another huge Fantasmic fan here. One of my biggest regrets this last trip is seeing it only once. It was my Mom and Sister's first time and they were wowed by it! I thought I was crazy for thinking something was definately different from when I saw it in 2004. When and why did they change the boat ending. I was getting so excited to see all those characters together again at the finale. Even with the change, it's still the best Disney show! :thumbsup2

They didn't actually "change" the ending.
The "Steamboat" is being refurbished.
