Just returned from an 8-day trip. Yesterday we were sitting at the OKW Turtle Pond pool & we saw this mom running around putting 4 stuffed Minnie & Mickey's on lounge chairs & then putting sunglasses on them. I saw her with the video camera. I looked at my DH & said "I think that woman is nuts - she's setting up those stuffed toys to take a picture".

Well, as I was leaving about 20 minutes later her 4 oldest children (her 5th was an infant) were hugging the stuffed animals & saying "thanks mom, thanks dad" - the kids were just thrilled.

I said to the woman "oh, did they just get those". She said "yes, it's our first time here & we finally decided we would spring & get them each one thing to remember the trip with". She said that her DH distracted the kids while she set them up & then DH said "hey, I think someone took our loungers". When the kids turned around they saw the gifts all set up.

I just thought it was one of the most special things. She said they had a great time but everything was so expensive & they really wanted to get the kids something. It still give me goosbumps just thinking about it. I hope some day they'll get to return when their youngest is old enough to enjoy iti also! :D

I love moments like that! That is part of the whole magic of Disney: enjoying not only your own experience but other people's too! My goosebumpy moment of our WDW trip last month was when we were on the bus to MK. We met a nice family who like us was on their first trip to WDW only it was their first day. Seeing their faces when the castle came into site was so great. Their little girls were so happy they were almost crying. Remembering that just a few days earlier my daughter and I had had the same reaction just made me almost cry!

I spend alot of time on our WDW trips watching families enjoy one another at Disney World. It's heartwarming.

We took my DW sister and her family to WDW BCV last Dec. My brother in law had no intrest in WDW and the only way the two kids would get to WDW was if we took them. Well this is why we own DVC. anyway when we were on the moniral going to MK I could se the look on the kids face.Hop happy thay were to see the Castle. But how had the bigest smile was my good old Brother inlaw. Well he was just like a kid walking right down the midle of Main street USA. And now he is hooked looking at buying DVC for his family . :teeth: :teeth: :grouphug:

Haryley-Mouse - what a nice story. Isn't that the greatest when a naysayer is converted!!! :D

What a wonderful story. I bet those children will remember those smaller gifts more than some kids do who get loaded down with souvenirs. I'm really not a souvenir type but I do try to get DD one or 2 small items for her to play with while we're on vacation as well as a memento for once we get home. On the last trip she got small Minnie and Mickey Mouse "beanie" type animals. She still plays with them and it seems to help her remember so many of the things we did on our trip.

That is a great story! Thanks for sharing it!! :)

Harley-Mouse, I loved your story as well! Thanks!
