Savor the Savanna

Sorry, but I doubt anyone could realistically answer that for you. September weather is quite unpredictable.
Thanks, I know, just trying to see if anyone that is in the area often has thoughts on when it is more likely to rain.
Last September when we were there we got lucky and only had rain one afternoon, otherwise none during our waking hours.
Leaning towards the earlier time I think.

I was thinking about this for the five of us, but it would cost over $1,000. Does anyone have a report? Is it worth it?

so we just did this Wednesday at 4:30. We figured that there wouldn’t be much food and my wife has a food intolerance so I emailed them before and they made her a special meal. So we had a pretty large snack prior to the tour. They take you on basically the same safari as the ride but a different vehicle. We stopped and talked with a care taker on the savanna and he was putting out food for the giraffes. We stopped right next to him and he answered every question we had as all the giraffes were eating and walking by so closely. I feel like they would have stayed there as long as we were talking. We made other stops near many animals and the tour guide was very informative.
We got to the Boma where they feed you and as we walked up the food was out and I looked and said I’m glad we ate there isn’t much food. Well there were 11 people in our group and there was food left over and it was really good. Nothing hot but a nice chicken salad, spiced shrimp, salads, cheeses, sliced meats, fruit etc. then we had desserts. Plenty of wine and beers included as well as non alcoholic drinks. We then went back in the truck and did the rest of the safari stopping along the way.
It was very good and we all said it was enough food for dinner. They took some back out of a group of 11 so I was way off in thinking it was not enough.
The tour lasted just over 2 hours. It was informative and fun.
If you like animals and information it’s well worth it. I’m looking at it as $189 each for me and my wife it was well worth it. When you say it’s over $1000 it sounds like a lot more. If your group likes animals and it’s a decent amount of food (like I said nothing hot and more like appetizers) I would say it’s worth it. If they aren’t really interested in the animals and conservation and how they are cared for you could do a lot more with that $1000 elsewhere but if they are it’s a great tour

We’ve done this also, and agree with @BeachMouse1, it’s very pleasant, but not spectacular. I also had food limitations and a few items had been prepared just for me. The animals left the savanna before we ate, so we didn’t sit, sip, and eat watching the animals. Enjoyed it, but unlikely to do it again at this price point.
