Guys, I tried to digg (www.digg.com) vmk close and NOTHING came back?

Who is going to fix that? :)

Now that our initial shock is over, Disvaclub and I have to start putting some order back in here , hope you all understand that. We wanted to give people a lot of room because we all to well understand the pain that is going on. It's time to start getting back to business as usual but that by no means implies we should give up :thumbsup2

Whatever we do with letters or phone calls or whatever, please keep it polite.

Having said that, like my digg suggestion, we need to go Multimedia. We need to bring this attention everywhere not just emails and petitions. That CNN angle for instance is fantastic! Lets get on youtube. Lets get podcasters involved, lets get newspapers. I want to see McCain, Clinton, or Obama asked what their thoughts on this game closing is all about. (They better answer carefully their votes might very well depend on it!!! )

Use your imagination and remember to use the power of the internet in the not so obvious ways!

oh and someone better start digging (digg.com) this story or I will start reporting people around here @_@

Lets get organized, What are your suggestions on where to go next? Remember they expect an out cry at first, its only continued pressure that can make a difference! Even if in the end we lose this battle, you will feel better for having fought it! Viva la VMK!

What are you standing around for??? Get busy @_@

I get Disney Insider emailed to me.
At the bottom of the page is "Submit a Story"

Since it is Disney owned.. they won't print the stories most likely.. but it's another way to get the message out loud and clear that we don't want to lose VMK.

Here's the link.. submit a story is at the bottom.

Aengus, it's funny you should mention podcasts...I was going to ask you what the best way would be to get the word out to the Disney podcast community. To be honest, the only one I listen to regularly is yours, so I don't know what avenues would give us the best chance of getting the word out. Should we just e-mail each podcaster? I don't want to bombard them either, though, because I realize that most of them have lives to tend to. Their Disney podcast is not their full-time job.

I dont know, but inside the magic used to do a monthly spiel on vmk. Its also one of the biggies. I would start there if you feel like crafting a nice email :thumbsup2

There's NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNBC.
Online news sites that I'm not aware of.
Contact your local newpaper, tv stations, radio stations.
Reputable talk shows (not Jerry Springer), magazines.

How about some of the gaming magazines? We have over a month, so there's a possiblity of making the next issues of some.

Also, family oriented magazines.

News magazines off the top of my head:
Newsweek
U.S. News & World Report
Time

This is all I can think of at the moment.

I'm on it.

Another possibility that I thought of was some of the children's interest NPOs. It may be a long shot to get them involved, but after reading so many stories of children with special needs who have benefitted so greatly from VMK, it seems like some might be willing to. I know that Make a Wish, for example, has a close rapport with Disney and might be able to exercise some influence if they so chose.

I just posted this on the CNN forum...

If you guys actually watched CNN on a nightly basis you would have seen this story/scroll, the article is from yahoo.com but story was aired on CNN:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080408/...ey_video_games

It's very obvious where Disney is looking to put their video game interest... and it's not in the states.

Also... as someone who worked to bring back Jericho (google for story), you must pick and choose your battles.

Calling every news station randomly is NOT going to bring VMK back, in fact like others have mentioned, its an attempt to "bad face" WDI and anyone familair with the Disney company will know that doesn't "fly."

Think about it... don't call someone ugly when your trying to get them to share their cookies... whether or not they truly are ugly.

Similar to what we did with Jericho.. I strongly suggest teaming up and going directly to WDI and THEN to the news stations. For instant... why don't we flood WDI with out flats? Can you imagine hundreds of our vmk characters scattered around?

Once we have a story (we found out they were canceling, this is what we were doing, this is what we did, heres whats happening etc) than its time to go to the news stations.

It makes a better story when your trying to fight... and not when your trying to complain.

Again guys... "flooding" newsrooms will get you no where with a company like Disney. We had a hard enough time getting coverage with thousands of viewers for Jericho and CBS. You need a "pitch"... something that will make a story... rather then making it seem like a bunch of video gamers upset because they closed a free game.

woot, weird but thanks! Now everyone DIGG it :)
Okay, now for those of us who evidently keep our heads in the sand while the world passes by...what is a DIGG, how do I DIGG, and what is the end result of a DIGG?

Very quickly I feel out of touch... lol

OH GREAT!

I have no idea :rotfl: someone told me to get this done... and I thought I could pull it off but thanks to you I have been called out.

Friend? Want to answer these questions please? I am out of coffee :rotfl:

Well I dugg the story posted and left a comment to it as well...

Remeber when contacting these places... Do NOT put Disney in a bad light.
Simply explain you need help fining out why the plug is being pulled. ANd if there is anything that can be done to salvage it.
The Media will shy away from putting someone like Disney (who spends alot of $$ in advertising with them,TV and Newspapers) in a bad light. They never want to potientially harm a client.

I you go to www.foxnews.com there is a box on the lower left part of the screen where you can submit news stories. Fox is big on human interest stories especially those that effect kids. Also Bill O'Reilly has the box and a page designed to submit stories ureport. He is a huge supporter or Children and has wrote books for kids. Here is the link to that page:

I think it is most important for those VMK players/parents who have been helped throught illness, tragedy or disability by playing VMK. Oh Aengus you an also submit photos and videos on this site.
