Saving Tickets

Not sure which board would be best - I'll try this one...

The short question is: if I go to WDW on a package, but don't use any days of my tickets, will they expire?

The longer discussion: Right now, we have some old tickets (non-expring) with 4 days left on them. We're looking at going to WDW again, and would want to buy a package, in part to get the dining plan. This means we need to buy some tickets. My understanding is that regular tickets expire 14 days after first use. Is this right? If so, could we go on this trip, use our old tickets but no days from the new ones, and then just save the new tickets to use on some future trip (at which point, we'd need to use them within 14 days)? I guess this would be the same situation as buying a package, but never actually using any of the tickets during your visit - will those tickets remain valid indefinitely as long as they're not used? Or, does staying in the hotel somehow count as a time of use? Would we be able to use the dining plan within a park if we used a different ticket to enter the park that day?

Short answer: No, they won't expire.

You have to purchase the non-expiring option. They don't automatically not-expire. We bought the 10 day non - exp for our trip last week and used 3 days of them, and the one day we had left on passes from 4 years ago. Our MGM day I took them to ticket window to check on it and to upgrade the one child to adult card, as DD is 14 now. It took a few minutes but she gave us new , paper, cards and somehow I didnt have to pay anything more for the kid! It took a few minutes tho, so you might want to check before you are going to use them those days if you even need to swap for new ones.

The op would only have to buy the non-expiry tickets if they planned to use any of them this trip. Because they do not plan to use the tickets from the package, just their old tickets, they do not have to buy the non-expiry. Tickets expire 14 days after the first use , if they are not used they don't expire.
