Saving spots in line

This is not an "amusement park" problem - it's a Disney problem.

Other theme park companies plainly state that line jumpers and place holders can be ejected. Disney chooses to do nothing.
The City of Santa Clara (at the time, owner of Great America) enacted a law to control line jumping:

9.05.130 Unsafe or disruptive conduct.

(a) It shall be unlawful for any person attending a place of amusement open to the public, such as an amusement park, theater, sporting event, dance or other place of entertainment, to do any of the following actions without lawful authority:

(1) Line jumping – stepping, jumping or pushing into lines ahead of others who are waiting.

(2) Running – running with willful and reckless disregard for the safety of others, including but not limited to:

(A) Running through substantially congested pedestrian areas;

(B) Running into another person;

(C) Running which causes another to abruptly move out of the way to avoid collision.

(3) Throwing or dropping of objects – willful and reckless throwing or dropping of any object which may injure another person or damage the personal property of another person.

(b) Such conduct or actions shall be deemed unsafe or disruptive and considered a threat to public health and safety and is prohibited. (Ord. 1545 § 1, 6-24-86. Formerly § 18-23).

If I did, I wouldn't take your lawyers call as it is perfectly legal - there is no expectation of privacy in public. Countless case law says so. If you sued, the case would be thrown out. You may even find yourself counter-sued for malicious prosecution. That's all.

If you are putting my face or my children's faces on a website designed to slander then it is not perfectly legal. You would have to prove the allegations that we were line cutting. Besides, I wasn't talking to you. :thumbsup2

I probably should have waited after writing the rant before posting it. I apologize if anyone was upset. If only there was a way Disney could politely ask people not to do this type of thing. I don't have an issue if someone needed to leave a line due to medical issues, or simply needed to use the restroom. It is for when a single person holds a place for 6 or 7 others, of which happened last night around 7pm, 3 separate times! Sometimes kids were climbing over the railings since ducking through them seemed impossible due to their large sizes. This could be dangerous if they fell as well.
Seems things probably won't change however, but I still think I will post the photos. I know there is no legal issue with posting them, as long as it isn't to cause harm, of which it isn't.
If others have some good constructive ideas, let's go as a group, maybe put together a letter to Disney corporate. Maybe someone here has great writing skills, as I seem not to.
Thanks for the civil discussion..

No worries on ranting/venting, I get what you're saying and feel the same way. But seriously, don't take photos and post them, that's crossing a line. Of course I wouldn't just contact my lawyer, I'd ask you to remove the photos first. LOL And just so ya know, my lawyer is my MIL. ;)

I understand your frustration. I have also learned the lesson of writing and email and/or post when frustrated. Now I always wait one day before hitting submit/send.

I feel the same way about people that misuse the Single Rider Line. I have witnessed this as well. And what is shocking when they end up sitting together. I recently watched a family go through the SRL at RSR the mom and dad were split up, but the three kids rode together. I also watched a Dad take his two small kids boy and girl through the line- I was appalled as I would never let my DD ride with a stranger. The CM ended up putting them all together.

How is that misusing the SR line? If the CM puts them together that's on the CM not the family. Our family uses the SR line for RSR, we don't ask or expect to be put together but sometimes it happens. I'm sure not going to tell the CM to put another SR on before me if it does happen. lol

I should note that we don't save spots in lines, our family policy is we can all wait or we can not all ride. Of course we've had an exception or two to use the bathroom but it is very rare. We are good at planning our potty breaks. LOL

It's my Opinion that the Single Rider Line is for Singles - Not Families. If every group larger than 2 with kids old enough to ride by themselves (In Theory) get it the SRL than whats the point? I know all the reasons why - it's just my opinion.

All though I hate this idea there isn't much a lawyer can do. You have no right to privacy while in a public area unless you are in a dressing room or a bathroom.

I fully understand this frustration, but have you considered the far-reaching effects this could have calling people out? Not everyone is mentally stable--and all it would take is one mentally unstable person to get upset and hurt you, your family... or use your list/pictures to potentially find someone hiding from them...

Case in point, my ex-bf said if I ever left, he would find me, kill me, and kidnap *my* child (not his in any way). I left. I still live in fear of him 5 years later. What if my new husband was in the line, and my DD and I were catching up to him (because you never know when a child or adult may have a sudden need to potty--kid bladders are tiny, and pregnant bladders are fairly fickle!). You snap our pick, attempt to post our profile to "out" us as "cutters", how easy would it be for the ex-bf to now find me, find where I am, my new name, etc. ...and I'd be pulling my daughter out of school, making my husband quit his job, and moving, all over again.... all because you were mad that my baby was bouncing on my bladder or my child waited a little too long to recognize the need to pee (or because my hubby's tummy issues started acting up)....

Again, I understand the frustration... Fully understand, considering I've had people cut in front of us at RSR multiple times too, and, yes, Disney is terribly passive about it when I've tried to stop it. Sorry it was such a bad wait in line for you!

I find this post ridiculous. If I'm waiting in a line that has a 45 minute wait and my hubby is off entertaining my kids so my 2 year old doesn't get bored and then comes back in line later, what does that have to do with you?
I say get over it because I will save my families spot in line.

This topic has been hashed out again and again here, because a lot of people agree that this is what happens:

A posted wait time is 45 minutes. People entering the line expect a wait time approximately 45 minutes long based on the people in line in front of them. If every single person in line has multiple people join them, the line suddenly becomes hours long. Every person that enters the line and skips ahead to meet a line holder increases the wait time for everyone behind them.

I agree. Lets ALL try to be courteous to our fellow guest.

The PP is right, this has been hashed out again and again - do what you want, as Disney is not going to stop you but keep in mind that people who have been patiently waiting in the line around you are not going to approve of what you are doing - you are inconveniencing people and they do not appreciate that. Leave the line and return if your child needs to go to the washroom but to think you can just play around while 1 person holds a spot for 3 or more people, is just not right. Sorry.

And this frosts my corn flakes. Can't stand that either.

But it is what it is and we just need to suck it up and drive on.

But still means I ain't gotta like the jack nuts that pull this crap and thinks its acceptable.
