saving room in the suitcase?

I go through my clothes closet at home & pull old t-shirts, socks & undies that are getting worn and would prob need to be tossed at the next Spring cleaning anyway. I pack those for my WDW vacation and then throw them out at the end of the trip. I still pack a pr of nice capris & at least one nice top in case I wish to dress a bit better for a meal but really no one else in the parks cares if my clothes aren't the newest. I also do one laundry during my vacation to cut down on how much I pack. These 2 strategies leave at least half a checked suitcase for souvenirs & goodies to bring back.

Space isn't the only concern if your worrying about space you need to watch the weight an over weight bag can cost more then a second bag
Instead of shipping what about a shopping service like dizzy dolphin

to save room in my suitcase I was thinking of packing and shipping all of our toiletries and snacks to the resort via the USPS ahead of time OR packing them all in a smaller suitcase and checking it in at the airport with my larger suitcase. Either way would cost me money but my fear is if I mail the package and it gets lost I have to buy everything again when I get there. what would you do? thanks

We buy toiletries and snacks in a local grocery. It's not like we are visiting a foreign country.

We do the following:
1) Rethink what we've packed in the first place. Do I really need those extra pairs of socks, etc.
2) We do breakfast in our room with a box of cereal that we've brought with us (buy milk at the gift shop). By the end of the trip, the cereal is eaten and the box is gone, which = more space for the returning souvenirs.
3) Use Eagle Creek packing cubes. You can stuff those babies so full in such a small amount of space. They'll hold all my socks, underwear, or shirts. We use two or three each.

I just googled the Eagle Creek packing cubes - those look great! Which sizes do you use? Best to buy direct from the site or are there cheaper places to get them? Thanks!

Something else to consider--will you be buying souvenirs or things to bring to folks at home? We usually bring a small suitcase full of snacks and other consumables and then use that room for souvenirs, etc on the way home.

We are paying close to $8,000 for this trip so Im sure as heck not worried about paying an extra $40 for another suitcase..lol

This is what we do too...snacks, cookies, breakfast cereal, shower gel, sunblock etc..leaves space on the way home :) We also pack a holdall too which we always need!!

I wouldn't recommend shipping to a Disney hotel. We shipped some items using Amazon Prime to the Grand Floridian for our last trip. Package arrived at GF on Friday, we checked in Saturday at 3:00. Bell staff had no clue where our package was. After many phone calls and trips to the front desk, we finally got our package on Monday afternoon - 2 full days after checking in. Apparently, the package got sent to the convention center, and they couldn't find it for awhile. I've since learned that this is very common at Disney hotels, at least at the ones with convention centers (not sure how packages are handled at others). I've sent packages to lots of other hotels with no issues, but this is something that Disney can't seem to figure out for whatever reason.
