Saving room for others at parades

My DH and I go very early to get good spots for parades or fireworks.Is it alright if one of us goes to get food to bring back while we wait? I would not hold a space in a line but is on the curb or bench alright?

We do it at any parade we go to. The majority stays at the curb and we have a fetcher to get the snacks!

Holding a spot for a family member who ran to get a drink or a snack I think is absolutely fine.

What I might have a problem with is one person holding a big spot for like 10 people and those people are riding rides etc....and arrive at the last minute. But I still wouldn't do anything about it though since I'd be there nice and early anyway to get our own spots.

We also get a curb spot very early for our family of 4 and then one of us, or sometimes my DH and girls, run into the bakery or casey's corner for snacks and I hold the spots with our backpack, ponchos and stroller. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. We all wait for most of the time except for the running for snacks.

I don't see anything wrong with sending part of your party to get snacks. Have fun, we'll be down there that week also.

That's one key aspect of courteous sharing of the space for watching the parade -- keeping a majority of your party camped out in the spot (or perhaps majority minus one). The other key, I believe, is that folks not present shouldn't be on attractions.

My wife once left me in an ideal spot while she took the kids to the bathroom. I stood there fending off attackers until she returned. It took 30 minutes. They decided to ride Space Mountain after using the restroom. I could have killed them as could have everyone nearby.
