Saving Poolside Chairs/Tables...

How about a light thread for a Saturday night that most of us can have a chuckle with....

Share with us your experience(s) with the "Towel Drapers", the folks who reserve the countless, if not multitudes of lounge chairs early in the morning, but then leave for a day at the parks. Or, perhaps someone can explain why folks do this. We don't get it..

I have one to add. How about the adults sitting in the kiddie pool (or dipping their feet in the kiddie pool, etc.) that roll their eyes when they get splashed by a kid that's minding their own business playing in the pool. Ummm...1- you're in a pool 2- you're at the KID pool 3- if you don't actually want to get wet, maybe the pool isn't the best location for you?

I've been renting a cabana every day at Aulani. I saw some drapers today who never sat in the chairs they reserved.

Haha woww I've never experienced that one! I don't usually have a hard time finding a chair. I've only had one weird pool chair experience.

One time my sister and I took a dip in the pool. When we came back a few minutes later my things had been moved from my chair to my sister's. I guess someone didn't feel like walking 5 feet to get one of the chairs that were empty? SO, so creepy. How do you pick up a strangers clothing and towel without getting grossed out? And underneath my dress I put my Disney Dooney and Bourke wristlet which was tossed on the ground.

Like thanks, I only had to stand on my feet for hours to afford this nice wristlet and you've just tossed it on the ground for the lizards

Oh, dear. Is that what those towels on the loungers mean? I thought people just left their towels there when they were done and had gone back to their rooms. So when I saw that the pool area was empty and I piled all the towels onto one lounger, I did a bad thing??

If there are no clothing, flip flops, or any personal items on the lounge, and no other empty chairs, I will use that lounge.

There are so many thoughtless people who are done with their lounge/chair but can't be bothered to take their towel to the Towel Drop bin when they're done and just leave them on the chairs

IMHO, a towel does not suggest that chair is in use, only the previous owner was too lazy to pick up after themselves... The CMs that maintain the pool deck are supposed to pick up towels that are just sitting by themselves. If it is not being done say something to the lifeguard. That is somebodies job...

It's not just Disney. We deal with this at our timeshare (not Orlando) every year. There is even a policy that says unattended stuff on chairs will be removed after 30 minutes (but I've yet to see the staff do it).

Last year, my DD and I stayed a Marriott timeshare in Orlando and went to the pool in the afternoon. Not a single chair to was empty. So, we thought, tomorrow we'll go to the pool in the morning instead and surely there will be chairs available. Well, there were, but not one of them was in the sunny spots. All of those had towels and belongings on them, yet there were maybe 10 people actually in the pool area? We ended up moving a couple chairs to a sunny spot. After that, we decided to forget using the pool and stick to the parks.

Agreed. Honestly if I left just a plain white towel on my chair I could not get mad at someone for taking it and tossing the towel in the bin.

If there are personal items like shoes next to the chair or clothing, even if it's just a personal towel (like a themed towel, super hero/Disney/universal/HP you get the idea...) draped over it that's a different story.

I don't know which is more puzzling... The towels that get left behind after someone obviously used them or the towels that get put out to "reserve" chairs/tables and then the people leave, get on a boat to go to the park and expect the towels to still be there.....
