We are finally jumping aboard the Keurig ship. Our first Keurig coffeemaker is in the mail and on its way to our house, so I'm looking for a few tips on saving money on K Cups. The machine I bought comes with one of the "my K cup" pods, so I plan to use my own coffee in that one most of the time. I also plan to buy K cups at Costco. My questions are:

1. Do you have any other ways to save money on K Cups? Any other places besides Costco where you usually get a good deal?

2. Is there any way to buy small quantities of certain flavors of K cups just to try them? There are some drinks we'd like to try (chai tea, hot chocolate), but I don't want to buy a whole 16 pack of K cups if it turns out we don't like the flavor of a particular brand. I know there are some "sampler" packs out there, but is there any place where I could just buy one or two K cups of certain flavors?

Thanks!

I don't have a Keurig (not yet!! ;) ) but I've heard a co-worker say that she buys her from Bed, Bath, and Beyond and uses the 20% coupon she always gets in the mail.
I know that I've seen them advertised in Kohl's adds before too, so pair that with one of their good sales....

I did this, but Bed Bath and Beyond have really raised their prices here. Also they weren't carrying the variety pack. The cost came out the same as what I paid at Walmart.

Amazon used to have good prices if you did the kcups through subscribe and save but they stopped offering the kcups that way (the ones I like). I used to regularly get the kcups for less than $ .50 each, but not anymore. I think I will probably purchase a refillable cup and use my own coffee.

I will watch this link in case someone posts a good deal.

I have heard others mention BigCatCoffees (.dot) com. They have an option where you can create your own variety box with 5 each of certain flavors. They call it a purrr-fect pack. I am planning on using this in the future to try out some new tasty flavors!

Cheapest place I can find them is 80 K cups for $37 at Sam's Club. I wish I could find them cheaper but I've looked every where and so far that is it. My husband love his Keurig K cups.
The only trouble he has had with it was one time the coffee didn't come out like it used to, all that came out was half a cup and we found out that after a while some times plasic, paper or coffee can get caught up in it. so I went on youtube and found out what we had to do and now it works just fine.

There are better filters for using your own coffee out there. Solofill and Ekobrew are two that come to mind. The nice thing about these filters is that you can just pop them into the housing you put the k-cups into without removing any parts, which you have to do with the My K-Cup

As for sample packs, you can buy 5 packs of most varieties directly from Keurig as well. If you join the coffee club (it's free), you get 10% off your order, plus you earn points for every cup you buy, which leads to a 15% discount once you have 500 points.

I get 24 Kcup boxes for 13.49 shipped free from Tullys (I'm in the Cafe Express club, soon to hit platinum status, lol). The shipping is free when you get over 4 boxes per shipment. They also have an 80 cup of DH's favorite French Roast. I really enjoy having it delivered and not having to have my fingers crossed that our favorites are at the store.:coffee:

I wanted to mention also - in case you weren't aware - once you receive your Keurig and you register it, you can order online through their website and receive a nice bonus. If I remember correctly there is a warranty card and/or instructions how to do this and once you register you'll get a code to enter on the website. I believe I was able to get 4 boxes for the price of 2 boxes and it was round $22ish. It was a great deal to get started! :thumbsup2

Enjoy - we love our Kcups! ;)

When I got mine last year, I went to the Keurig website and filled out the information for the warranty. A few days later they emailed me a coupon for buy two boxes get two boxes free. I spent less than $30 for four 24 k-cup boxes.

I recommend Bigcatcoffees.com. Coffeewiz.com is good too, but I've been using them less just because Big Cat seemed to have better prices.

Sam's Club or Costco is good, but they had very little selection - mostly the "lighter" brews last time I was at Costco and we only like the stronger blends.

Amazon is good as well - they often have Manager's Special sales on their Grocery area for the boxes of 50.

We've had our brewer for about 18 months and at first we were often able to get the K-cups for around .42 each but coffee prices have gone up a lot and I can't really find them for under .50 any more.

2. Is there any way to buy small quantities of certain flavors of K cups just to try them?

At one of the Bed, Bath and Beyonds near me, they sell 3 packs. Another local BB&B doesn't carry them though. I guess only the bigger BB&B's sell them.

I wouldn't mind getting involved in a K-cup exchange. I have some flavors which I do not like and I'm sure that there is others out there that feel the same way. When I registered my Keurig, I got the coupon for the buy 2 get 2 free. I purchased a few variety packs to try them out. I also get emails from them with other specials.

I work hard to keep my per cup cost low. I used to be able to do .33 regularly, now it's harder but not impossible. Some ideas:
1. do not use the my kcup, it has mostly bad reviews producing a weak cup of coffee and a hassle to use in the machine. Try solofill or ezcup or the eco one mentioned in another post to use your own coffee. I have the solofil and have been pleased with the results and clean up is easy.
2. Definately take advantage of the Keurig registration deal. It's one time but it's a great deal.
3. Check out all the websites like coffeeforless, bigcatcoffee, etc. They all have different specials, shipping prices etc. For instance one might have free shipping with $70 order but another one with $40. I just ordered from coffeeforless because their deal was free shipping w $40 and I was only ordering $50 worth and didn't want to pay shipping...nice surprise was since I was a first time customer they also gave me 5% discount :goodvibes
4. If you are ordering a large amount the best discount other people have mentioned is the $20 off $70 coupon offered by Staples. I believe you can find the coupon in the store in a booklet and order online with free shipping. Haven't tried it but that's the rumor.
5. You kinda have to keep watching for deals. I refuse to pay ridiculous amounts so I have to do my work on the other side to make sure I find good deals..trade off. These days if your keeping your cost below .50 your doing good and it's not too hard to do that. Remember that supermarkets have the 12 count usually and BBB and Kohls have the 18 count so bear that in mind when your pricing. I like the medium roasts and they seem to be a little harder to find as well. My two favorites have been Timothy's brands which are also now ridiculous to find as they've been discountinued: German Chocolate Cake and Kona Blend. I used to belong to an exchange and that was not cheap but a good way to try a whole bunch of different coffees to see what I liked. Green Mountain coffees are my favorite after Timothy's. I like a very smooth cup with no bitterness or smoky flavor so no dark or french roasts for me. Good luck, it's a lot of fun. BTW I have iced coffee in the Keurig down to a science: Brew 3 Kcups at smallest size, refridgerate overnight, use 16oz mug, 5 ice cubes and fill three quarters with the chilled coffee and add milk to top and sweetner to taste - YUM!

register for 2 boxes. check out www.singleservecoffee.com I like Coffeewhiz.com they have great service & I get codes when I signed up at their website. Started with them when I had a pod coffee maker.
