Saving Mr. Banks Trailer!

I am so mad at the OP-- Now I have to wait till Christmas time to see the movie.

I am so over the moon with excitement and wonder, why must I wait till December? So totally unfair.

I will be in the theatre the first day this is released. Look for me I will be the one carrying a big box of Kleenex to wipe away tears and to wipe my tears from laughing.

See Ya Real Soon

-- Honest--- TY for sharing :)

I really want to see this movie and will no doubt do so, but something about the trailer was underwhelming to me. Maybe the way the trailer is cut doesn't do Hanks performance justice. Hanks just didn't seem Waltish enough to me. His accent seemed wrong and his nose is also distractingly different from Walt's. I am probably looking for too much of a recreation of our beloved Walt while Hanks is doing a sort of interpretation of him.

I am very excited for it but after reading what Jeffrey Sherman (Robert Sherman's son) has written about the movie, I'm a little hesitant now. Here is a link to his opinion (it was written on his FB).

While I can't find that exact post, he does post the youtube link for the trailer and discusses about his reservations about the accuracy of it all that reinforces what he said in the link above. I hope that Disney fixed the inaccuracies from the time that he saw the early screenplay and told them where they got it wrong to the finished product now, but if they didn't, that is really playing a dis-service to those who were the driving force behind Mary Poppins.

I was very excited for it mainly because I thought Emma Thompson could really pull off playing a grouchy, bitter old lady (as was my impression of Travers) against Tom Hank's Walt Disney, but now I don't know what to think.

Sorry for being the wet blanket at the party, but I thought my fellow DISers would like to know what a Sherman family member thinks about the whole thing.

ETA: I really love that they did Walt's office so well!! Especially down to the Norman Rockwell portraits of Diane and Sharon!

That was a very interesting link to the J. Sherman facebook post. Thanks so much Rowan1813. It makes me want to read more about the Sherman brothers.
