Saving for Disney?

We keep a 5 gallon water bottle in the house for "Change". Since our last trip, "Change" isn't just for coins anymore. Dollars, coins, or anything my 4 year old can get his hands on goes into the jug. We use this for our spending money. I tend bar a couple nights a week on the side and I take a portion of that money and add it to a re-loadable Disney Gift card at the Disney Store in our local mall. I make all our vacation payments on Disney.com. ($20 minimum :cool1:). Its like Mouse layaway. :rotfl2: The goal is to not touch anything in our checking or savings account.

I forgot to mention this tip that has allowed me to save quite a bit.

My bank offers a "Keep the Change" plan, so I signed up. Every time I make a debit purchase, it's rounded up to the next dollar and the "change" is automatically put into a savings account. It adds up fast!

For instance, I buy something that costs $10.30. $11 is taken out of my checking and the $.70 change is put into my savings account. I don't do anything but slide my debit card for the purchase.

We have the Disney Premier Visa and use it for everything and then pay off at the end of the month. THis has helped us earn $500 a year to use towards Disney. I also save cash in an envelope and add to it whenever I get birthday money or rebates or reinbursements. Lately I've been taking out $200 a month from Dh's extra job monthly paycheck and saving that also. Usually it just gets dwindled or spent on stupid stuff.

We saved our Capital One miles for a few years now and earned enough to pay for all of our airfares to Orlando except for $300!:cool1:

My inlaws own a timeshare that we are able to use several times per year so for our May WDW vaca we are staying for free at Bonnett Creek, paid for $300 for airfare and have $300 in Disney Reward Dollars so far saved towards our WDW Passes. Already paid for the Discovery Cove tickets (no discount on those but oh well, I did the best I could on everything else! :thumbsup2)

I'm going to do that. I have the option. I'll have it put in a separate savings account, just for that. Thanks!
