SAVE YOURSELVES! NEVER use Delta!

I understand your frustration!

I would be pretty upset if our Disney trip started out like this.

My question to people that have been delayed. Did you have insurance?

If you miss a whole day of vacation shouldnt it cover your expenses like your hotel, park tickets ect?

Flying out of Birmingham, I fly with Delta pretty often. Luckily, I've never had the kind of problem you had. I have sat on the runway for 3 hours in a Delta plane and I sat at the Baltimore airport for 16 hours waiting on my United flight. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and checking my flight often for my Sept. trip. I booked my flight (for 6 people) at a rate of $147 per person round trip, including taxes and fees. For that rate, I would still book with them again even if I had a similar experience to your's. Bad things sometimes do happen to good passengers. I sympathize, but don't let it ruin your vacation.

CarolA---Wow, 8 hours in the B'ham airport. You must have been bored silly AND hungry. I'm from B'ham, so I know there's nothing to do and really no place to eat at our airport.

This is NOT a schedule change. This was a cancellation due to some issue that would have effected your saftey. Contrary to DISboard myth the airlines do not sit around and go "let's cancel the BNA-MCO flight because it's not full or we don't like those passengers" If the flight is canclled that late there was another reason.

Liar. I have it on very good authority that the airlines actually read the disboards to decide which flights to cancel. ;)

Anyways, I've only flown Delta a handful of times and each time they have been good. I mostly fly with Southwest since I do a lot of travelling within California or to Vegas so, it makes more sense. All airlines have their good days and bad days.

:rotfl2:

They aren't that bad... Of cours at least they didn't lose your plane!

Lately I have not seen too many US flights on time. Last week I sat through a 3 hour delay in Charlotte, finally arriving home at 2:30AM!

I don't know if the MSP delay was weather related or ATC. The big problem is if there is rain on the east coast, ATC backs up all the planes for hours up and down the coast, creating a domino effect.

Well, I'm sure Delta is not evil, LOL, but I have flown several times from BNA on Delta, and I have NEVER, EVER had a positive experience. Lots of early flight cancellations or changes, lots of delays, lots of sitting around at the airport with no word wondering what the CRAP is going on -- basically just never a smooth trip. Now I could have a bad experience with SWA TOMORROW, but I have never (knocking wood furiously) had a negative experience was SWA at BNA, and I have used them many times.

Did anyone see the meltdown for United yesterday? Probably didn't effect many of our Disney travelers but sounded spectatular. Basically the UA system that controls a LOT of key factiors (weight, fuel etc) failed for two hours....Bet they are still trying to recover from that!

And did you catch the USA Today article earlier this week about horrible United incidents? They were referenced again today in the editorial page. The overall consensus is that United is now the worst airline of all for problems and bad customer service.

Yesterday Continental had raw sewage running down the ilse for 7 hours on a flight overseas!

They served a meal with "it" running down the isle!

AirTran just emailed me a flight change. Its only a half hour difference so far.

This is a good example of the unique issues that air carriers face. Truly, what are you supposed to do at 36,000 feet over the Atlantic Ocean? Do you return to the airport of origin and delay trips... or do you continue on course and, if nothing else, arrive on time?

In this case, the toilet had been repaired the night before, only to become clogged again when a passenger on this particular flight ignorantly tried to flush a pair of latex gloves down the lavatory. Ugh.
