I was SUPPOSED to start my magical journey to WDW today with a 6:30am flight to Orlando from Nashville. Without even giving me a phone call, I just happened to look online and found out our flight had been cancelled. After waiting 30 minutes on the phone I was informed I couldn't get out of Nashville until 2. DO NOT USE THIS AIRLINE! This by the way was after our flight times had been changed twice in two months.
I don't care what kind of deal you are offered....if they give you 1st class tickets with champagne all the way to Orlando or wherever you might be going, it's not worth it. Our trip has been at least partially ruined because of these idiots. They were not helpful, nor apologetic. DO NOT USE THIS AIRLINE! Walk if you have to. These morons have messed up what was supposed to be a great trip.
Oh yeah, and in case I haven't said it yet, DO NOT USE THIS AIRLINE!

It is now my mission to turn my anger into something positive for anyone else who might be crazy enough to use them. I'll be sure to post weekly about them so that poor, unsuspecting travelers will not fall victom to our situation!
DO NOT USE DELTA!

This seems to be a recurring theme with Delta, as well as some other airlines. We, as the consumer, should be informed enough by this time, to realize that we need to be checking on our flights constantly. When I fly Delta, I check on my flights weekly. When I get to a month or so before the flight, I check daily!!!! I have had a flight canceled and I'm not sure what would have happened if I hadn't been on top of the situation and called them as soon as I saw the discrepancy.
Now, I even check, and double check my JetBlue flights. More to see if my flights have gone down in price, but also to double check on times and such. Sorry you had such an awful Delta experience....the group of folks with similar experiences is just growing and growing!!! But, Delta is not alone in this practice.

Yep, i'm with you. I check at MINIMUM once a day. As of last night at 9:30, everything was just peachy. I really can't stand these people. How do they have no concern over the people who are paying their salaries!?

Delta cancelled several flights today due to weather. I guess the OP would rather be in danger? I mean we all know its better to fly on a plane with a bad engine or in bad weather then to cancel a flight. I am sure the airlines only made up those rules to inconvince me... one jet engine is plenty we can fly right? What's a thunderstorm going to do??? Those pilots don't need sleep, let them fly for 24 hours straight? Since we are paying thier salaries and we don't care about safety FLY!!! (SHEESH!)

If an airline cancels a flight at the LAST minute like that it was NOT a schedule change. It was either mechanical or weather. Having a hissy fit will not help. If this five hour delay RUINS your vacation, you have only yourself to blame..

Since your other option is SW, I think I should warn you that a few months ago I spent EIGHT hours in the Birminaham Airport because of SW having a weather delay in Chicago.

If you post weekly, I will probably start complaining loudly to the mods. I have no problem with constructive posting, but vindictive posting AKA "I want to be a pest" helps no one.

Never say never.

I am a very frequent flyer with Delta and would encourage others to fly them. I have flown all the major carriers and have had issues on all of them.

Once you purchase a ticket it is up to you to keep watching for any changes. The airline can't possibly contact everyone when flights are cancelled. I sure wouldn't want to fly in unsafe weather.

Most frequent flyers know that you don't sweat the small stuff. Things that are out of the airlines hands is not worth getting upset about.

Sorry about your experience, but i'm sure its not going to ruin your WHOLE vacation! You will have a good time when you get there, so try and put this into perspective, have a great trip:thumbsup2

I can't be the only one here who gets tired of these types of threads.

ALL airlines cancel flights. ALL airlines have delays. Seat assignments are changed. It happens all the time.

Airlines want to make money. They don't deliberately schedule delays or cancel flights to inconvenience passengers. However, they have no control over the weather and planes do develop mechanical problems.

If you let travel delays ruin your trip, that's your problem.

DO NOT USE DELTA!

I'm with CarolA...please don't do that. I check my flights all the time to make sure they stay where I originally bought them. Sometimes they reschedule and I have to call and rebook my seats. It happens. On all the airlines, not just Delta. Sometimes they re-schedule just for adding or removing flights on any given day, not even weather related! Next time you'll know and it won't bother you so much. It's a pain, sure; but worse things could happen.

Yeah, i'm not an idiot! I do understand that things happen....BUT...
1) I was not informed in any way of this problem
2) It took them 10 minutes to confirm with me that the flight had indeed been cancelled
3) They would not give me any reason as to why the flight was cancelled
4) They were not the least bit apologetic

I don't think any of that is me being unreasonable. If you do, my hope is that you go through the same thing.....then get back to me and let me know how YOU feel!

DO NOT USE THIS AIRLINE! Walk if you have to.

:rotfl: Mike, not laughing at your situation...just at how you worded your post. I get it.

I bet if customer service would have been kind and sympathetic you would have a much different take right now. It never ceases to amaze me how far being nice will go.

I hope you still have a great trip!

Been there done that on the followingL

Delta. (Extra day in London)
SW (EIGHT hours in the Birmingham Airport!)
AA. (Took them THREE days to get me home!)
USAir (they "lost" the plane)

As I said, they didn't cancel the flight to be MEAN to you. Trust me, they didn't want to cancel that flght. That plane NEEDED to go to MCO where there were folks waiting. It messes up thier entire day to do this.
So you want to know how I feel. I feel l ike you need to quit whining.

I am with you!

OP's delay is actually not that bad.

If there is a flight at another time that you prefer call back and insist that they offer you those seats...a lot of times they will rebook you on a flight that still has seats available at the fare you paid and so there may well be open seats on earlier flights that they did not offer you, but if you politely insist they CAN rebook you on any flight that has available seats. Most days Delta has an 8:30'ish flight to MCO too....that would save most of the day for you.

Schedule changes are common among most carriers...the only one not changing times/cancelling flights on a regular basis that I am aware of flying the BNA - MCO route is SW...once the schedule is opened up it rarely if ever changes and you can always cancel/rebook without penalty...for that reason alone we use them almost exclusively for our leisure travel!

The earlier DL flights requre a connection in ATL. OP is probably better off staying with what he has. We are suppose to have fhunderstorms here off and on all day and despite the OP's best wishes the airport gets closed if they get bad! (What a hassle, they want us to be safe!)

This is NOT a schedule change. This was a cancellation due to some issue that would have effected your saftey. Contrary to DISboard myth the airlines do not sit around and go "let's cancel the BNA-MCO flight because it's not full or we don't like those passengers" If the flight is canclled that late there was another reason.

Plus I just checked EVERY flight out of ATL to MCO is FULL this afternoon which means the OP is probably going from a bad situation to a worse situation. There was already one flight shown as cancelled today.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
They LOST the plane????

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I love it!

Carol wins

It's USAir..... enough said. LOL! (They seemed to be having some computer problems.... the flight had to divert because the Charleston Airport was closed due to weather and then they couldn't seem to find out where it went and when it would get to Charleston. The gate agent looked me in the eye and said "we seem to have lost the plane" LOL!)

What I'm wondering is if the OP is so adamant about not flying Delta, why he didn't refuse re-ticketing, ask for a refund, and "walk" to another airline? He may have to wait a day to get a flight, but he would not be supporting an airline he apparently dislikes so much. Come on, put your money where your mouth is!

All airlines have issues, a lot of them caused by weather. We also had a delay, 12 hours of delay...on Amtrack !!
It took over 24 hours for a scheduled 12 hour train from Philadelphia to Orlando, caused by weather. It's too far to walk, I don't like to drive, so I just take the gamble on the airlines.
