So i was wondering when you guys sent out your save the dates? With having a disney wedding i want to give people enough time to plan and I am trying to decide on a timeline for sending out save the dates and then wedding invites. What have you guys done as far as for timeline or what are you going to do? Also thoughts on sending an early RSVP for the save the date to begin to get an idea of who might come??

thanks for the help,
Teresa

We sent ours between 11 and 12 months out, as soon as we had signed our LOA and confirmed our room discounts. I wanted to include as much info in the STD's as possible concerning travel arrangments. My guests have really appreciated the advanced notice and pricing information. We did not do an RSVP with them because I will be sending our invites at 4 months to give us plenty of time to get back to disney with our numbers. I personally wouldn't know how to RSVP to someones wedding 12 months out and everyone I talked to agreed I'd get back a ton of "maybe's" which really isn't helpful!

We're getting married next October, and we might not send our save the dates out until maybe another couple of months. Ours is a little difficult because my sister is getting married next May, so we kind of have to plan when we send everything out around when she and her fiance send their stuff out.

we're getting married on 11/2/2012 in WDW and we're waiting until we sign our contract and have the room block set, but they will be out before Christmas for sure, since we're all from PA and NJ and we want to give them plenty of notice, since air travel and multiple nights will probably be involved for our guests. I think i'd prefer to give more notice than people need, as opposed to less.

I just sent ours out yesterday. The 8 month mark. I wanted so badly to get them out a little earlier but getting them done was difficult enough as they were DIY. But they are finally out and it's a huge relief.

I'm getting married 12/22/12 and sending out my Save the Dates sometime in mid-late January of 2012.

I figure this will give everyone plenty of time considering they not only have to plan for Disney but for a holiday wedding as well.

ETA: I am a Swan bride so everything is confirmed, signed, deposited, etc. I wouldn't send anything out until you've signed a contract.

I will be sending mine out probably early january we are signing our LOA on the 22nd of december when we get to disney world. Faith when are you gonna be in the world in december? or do you not know yet?

thanks for everyone's help! I have decided I am not doing an early RSVP and this is why. The majority of the people I would invite I know they will be coming. Also we are going to include accomodation information and venue information with the save the dates so they can start making plans.

I am thinking send out the actual invites in july what do you guys think? oh and should I include anything else to help them plan with the save the dates?

BTW my save the dates were designed by an amazing Disboards member she is phenomenal disboards name: vickxo

I will post a picture soon! she is doing my whole wedding suite and then I am DIY them to pocket invites and all that fun stuff.

Teresa: we are going in December but I don't know when yet. I'll keep you updated!!

As far as your invites, I think July is too early for a December wedding. Here's our timeline, if it helps!

Mid-late January: send out the Save the Dates
May or June: send out a newletter with helpful information about accomodations, flights, transportation options, the schedule of events, as well as info about WDW (tickets, weather, etc).
Late October- Early November: send out the invites with an RSVP deadline of early December.

I like your timeline I like the mid year newsletter I already have a service to do that digitally and if there is anyone that I can't send it to digitally I can find a way to do it paper.

Thank you for the mid year suggestion. For my family and friends I need to send invites sooner just for money reasons and stuff so I will probably send them mid october or early october.

you are very helpful!
