I was just curious, after you get a planner and sent all of the fun documents to look through, how long does it take for them to send the save the dates out to your guests? My family is bugging me everyday because they want to make their reservations!! I keep telling them, just wait, just wait but they don't listen.....

I was in the same situation! I had some people that were impatiently waiting for the save the dates so they could make reservations and kept asking..... After Disney receives your signed contract, it takes 7 to 10 ten days to process it and to send out the save the dates.

I don't remember how long it took but I had mine sent to me and I added them into a packet of information.

Wow, you are lucky that your family wants to make reservations. No one in my family has yet. What a bummer.

Oh good that is good to know. I see some girls on here where their family members wait until the last minute to book, I kind of wish my family was that way but they are all crazy about Disney and can't wait to go :rotfl:

We sent out our contract January 25th and the first STD was received by family on February 10th. :) And we had 4 rooms booked by the end of February..and our wedding isn't until December. :)

HTH!

Yes it does help! That is good to know. I just keep trying to tell everyone to be patient but they are too excited..lol

Has anyone considered sending out their own "pre save the dates"...a save the date for the Disney STD... is that a little redundant and silly? lol yea I just re-read that and it sounds stupid. :rotfl: its just I hate to wait for the 8 month mark to send out the stds, especially with some annoying family members "thinking" about planning a wedding for around the same time as us... I NEED to reserve my date before them!

I sent out my own save the date at about the one year mark. I don't think it is too redundant.... ok, maybe it is, but I wanted to do it anyways for the same reasons as you.

I really think I may send out "pre" stds when we finally get scheduled with disney at the one year mark... in a few weeks! woo hoo! :woohoo: this will save me the stress of those "annoying family members" giving me any grief about how they want to get married next year too. TOO DARN BAD, you snooze you lose! :lmao: seriously, they've been dragging their feet with their wedding plans for two years, then as SOON as we get engaged its like, "OH wait, we want to get married too!"

I had something VERY similar happen. Get those STD's out lol!!

We are also sending out our own created Save the Dates a week or so before Disney will send theirs out.
My daughter's STD is designed to look like a fairytale storybook and tells "their story" like a fairytale.
When I have enough posts (and learn how to do it ) I will post a picture.
I'm not "crafty" but Mal's aunt Connie never met a project she didn't like.

Have you thought about sending out an engagement announcement? Like one of those magnetic cards saying...

"Announcing the engagement of Jane Doe and John Dear
Joining in marriage February of 2009
Save the Dates to Follow
"

Just a thought :confused3 :cutie:

Thats exactly what I was thinking!!! ... but then are people going to think.... pre stds... then stds... then invitations... why bother?! lol :confused3 really I only want to do it so that I can get my date set before the "other ones" do and get it announced to EVERYONE so that *IF** they decide to do a wedding close to ours, everyone will come to mine!!! LOL I'm terrible!:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 !

That's exactly why I ordered the save the dates. My brother got engaged AFTER me and is getting married about 9 weeks before me... to some chick he hasn't even been dating for a year. I am not even sure if they will be together for one year on their wedding date.

thats not terrible! thats just being a smart bride!!! lol :lmao:

I think it would be perfectly fine to get a pre-std if its worded in the "engagement" way. :) A lot of people do that..and hey...gotta secure that date girl!!! lol :rotfl:

UGH! See this is what I'm worried about... BUT... I think that one good thing you can take from it is that since your wedding will be AFTER his, everyone will remember yours the most!!!! Last always has its advantages! I'm sorry though, that really stinks!
