Save PUSH! Last day is Saturday!

"Take him apart"...? Ouch. I know he is just a machine, but he meant something to us.

The visible part of him (physical shell) was a Disney Tomorrowland Trashcan.

He looked like the other real trashcans in Tomorrowland.
That's why he blended in and was such a surprise when he moved and talked.

Definitely bummed about PUSH not being there. I wasn't aware of him during our trip in October as I hadn't found these boards then...

It is for sure one very small attraction but there is something really cool about it and I think my family would have loved it.

The best way to put it for me is it would have been a small highlight.

Hopefully it can still be resolved, especially if media gets involved but that likely won't happen on a big scale.

Imagineers can invent all kinds of stuff but can design a PUSH for themselves??

I'm sure that all you need is some off-the-shelf components for the actual inner workings and then design an appropriate outer shell that goes over it. A component electronic hobbyist could probably do it in a couple of days.

Until they get sued for stealing intellectual rights... The owner has a patent. I don't think they want to go there...

More of a reason to just bring Wall-E out!!!
As much as I love(d) Push, I think people would get over it pretty quickly if he was replaced by Wall-E. THAT would be amazing and should already be in place.

Because PUSH was the intellectual property of the outside company. The contract discussion was for Disney to buy out the IP of PUSH, which fell through.

Sounds like they could get sued for stealing intellectual property. In other words - they can't copy the concept.

Or not:

I think the one issue with WALL-E is that he doesn't say much past "EVA?" If he is to interact with guests he will need to be allowed to speak more...as long as Disney and their future plans (if any...and hoping so) allow for him to develop than this may work. Personally I would love to see WALL-E in the parks ASAP.

Hmmm...

Disney would have almost certainly uncovered in their research during the buyout negotiations that PUSH's IP hadn't been renewed... And that would certainly be a reason for a sudden and irreversible falling out of what was seen as a "sure thing" negotiation/buyout. So sure that statements were being made that he'd stay...

If the company didn't file and didn't legitimately own the IP anymore, logically speaking, they'd have nothing to sell Disney with regards to using PUSH. Disney relating that fact would almost certainly cause the company, which was trying to leave anyway, to pack up and go.

I wonder if that's the reason, and not labor issues, that their talks fell through and PUSH ultimately left despite the fact that Disney wanted to acquire him... I bet they're kicking themselves over forgetting that IP renewal.

This article does nothing but stir the pot. PUSH is still protected by Trademark. The writers apparently didn't continue their research.

The Save PUSH Facebook page is at almost 10,000 likes. Wow. How can Disney ignore that?

Wall-E would be cute in the park and I thought there was one already that had made special appearances at Disneyland. I seem to remember seeing pictures of it online somewhere.

Yes... Because non-verbal character interaction at Disney Parks would never appeal to guests...

There was a WALL-E robot, but it made very limited appearances (as in just a couple) right as the WALL-E film debuted.
After that, nothing.

He was not a regular Meet & Greet character like PUSH.
