Save $$$ on Disney & USF Merchandise

There are several outlet malls in Orlando that have Disney merchandise deep discounted. For example, the Belz Factory Outlet World (5401 W. Oakridge Road, Orlando, FL) has a Character Warehouse where Disney merchandise is discounted 50% or more. A lot of the deep-discounted merchandise is from last year, but if you can live with that, you can save a lot of $$$ on Disney souveniers.

Before we visited WDW last year, we took DS and DD to the Character Warehouse, gave them an allowance and let them buy their WDW souveniers there, rather than at the Parks. The kids got more WDW stuff than they otherwise would have and we saved $$$, so everybody was happy. Am wondering, for a trip in early Jan 2003, whether discounted WDW merchandise from 2002 will already be at the Character Warehouse stores. Anyone know????

Also, have heard that there are Universal Studios outlets at the Orlando Outlet Mall with discounted USF/IOA merchandise. Haven't been to one of them yet, but would like to know more before our next trip to FL in Jan 2003.

When we were there last year I thought the universal outlet had even better prices than disney outlets.
I got a US jacket made by Gear for just $15. I'm guessing regular retail at the park would have been at least $50+
Got lots of little gift items to bring back for the kids' friends at far less than we would have paid at the park.

Do they have park specific items there? Like a Splash Mountain shirt or a Tower of Terror Beach Towel?

Lampy -- sometimes, they do. They also sometimes have some of the exact items currently available at the parks. We've bought Rock 'n Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror shirts and a Splash Mountain plush (Brer Fox). We had seen the plush at the parks that week and the ToT shirt in a different color.

Would I be likely to find a pressed penny album at one of these discount outlets?

We have the opportunity to buy one at 15% off at Epcot with our CP package on our first day there. But would I be wiser to wait until next day or 2 when we have scheduled to go to these outlets?

When you go there they have different items all the time.
But word of warning, you see something you like, take it!
Chances are next time you go it won't be there.

Plan to be there for a while too! And check every nook and cranny in the store. I usually go to pick up last year's souvenirs. Who's gonna know what year you bought them?LOL

I got my Tinerbell watch for just 19.99 at the Premier Outlet Mall last Easter and have been wearing it since!

As you know, every bit helps us Canucks!

We were just there and they had quite a few of the 2002 shirts available..2 different kinds I believe..in both kids and adults..dont remember about other types of stuff inthe 2002

We usually stop into the outlets before we check in the first day. Buy our souveniers and then DD8 is less likely yo beg for stuff in the parks.

Last summer at the USF one DD got a Harry Potter character shirt for about $3- it was on a 75% off rack. Usually everything in that store is 50% off that price on the tag.

The Disney outlets are hit and miss. We have been and found a lot and then another time have found very little. They do not seem to have very many older childrens clothes -sizes 6-12.

Another place for discount Universal merchandise is inside Universal Studios itself. There is a place called Second Hand Rose. It sells out of date merchandise. Last week I got a 2002 Universal Studios Totebag, normally $29.00, for $15 after using my AAA card for a 10% discount. Was $16 something before my discount
