Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy

I don't know if I hate that song more or Redneck Woman......two really BAD examples of country music. And I love country music.

I am a fan of country music and I dislike both those songs (Redneck Woman also) I don't like the videos for either and when they come on the radio i change the station.

I hate this song ... this video...these 2 guys who sing it ...... WHY do I have to punished ??? I think it ia #1 on the top 20 videos this week

I mean I am all for a Freak Parade but gimme a break ....

Just think what you could do if all TV's and Radio's were furnished with on and off switches?;)

I think it's a funny song...even my husband (not a big country music fan) likes it. It is in heavy rotation though...which stinks.

For folks who don't like "Redneck Women", the two guys, Big & Rich, who sing "Save a Horse" are friends with Gretchen Wilson (who sings "Redneck Women"). If you haven't seen Gretchen's video...it is just a funny as "Save a Horse". She has a lot of folks "appearing" in the video, such as Tanya Tucker, Kid Rock, and Hank Jr.

I LOVE this song...AND redneck woman. (Actually - Gretchen Wilson is more overplayed in my area then Big and Rich...I LOVE her new song though, "Here for the Party") I like how Big and Rich are NOT that country...it has a great beat to it and is great to blare when driving down the highway with all the windows down. (Never seen the videos though)

go here if you've never heard it (sound - crappy, but sound)http://www.hit-country-music-lyrics.com/save-a-horse-lyrics.html

Lyrics

Dum de de dum, de de dum, de de dum, de de da da.
Dum de de dum, de de dum, de de dum, de da da, la la la.

Well, I walk into the room passin' out hundred dollar bills.
An' it kills and it thrills like the horns on my Silverado grille.
An' I buy the bar a double round of Crown an' everybody's getting down,
An' this town ain't never gonna be the same.

'Cause I saddle up my horse an' I ride into the city.
I make a lot of noise 'cause the girls, they are so pretty.
Ridin' up an' down Broadway on my old stud, Leroy.
And the girls say: "Save a horse, ride a cowboy."
Everybody says: "Save a horse, ride a cowboy."

Well, I don't give a dang about nothing: I'm singing an' bling-blanging,
While the girls are drinkin' long necks down!
An' I wouldn't trade ol' Leroy or my Chevrolet for your Escalade, or your freak parade:
I'm the only John Wayne left in this town.

An' I saddle up my horse an' I ride into the city.
I make a lot of noise 'cause the girls, they are so pretty.
Ridin' up an' down Broadway on my old stud, Leroy.
And the girls say: "Save a horse, ride a cowboy."
Everybody says: "Save a horse, ride a cowboy."

Instrumental break.

"Well, I'm a thoroughbred."
That's what she said in the back of my truck bed,
As I was gettin' buzzed on suds, out on some back country road.
We where flyin' high, fine as wine,
Having ourselves a Big and Rich time
An' I was going, just about as far as she'd let me go.
But her evaluation of my cowboy reputation
Had me beggin' for salvation all night long.
So I took her out, gigging frogs,
Introduced her to my old bird dog
An' sang her every Willie Nelson song I could think of.
An' we made love.

What? What?
"Save a horse, ride a cowboy."
Everybody says: "Save a horse, ride a cowboy."

This is without a doubt, the cleanest, dirty song I have ever heard in my life. There is NOTHING nice or funny about it, and the video belongs on MTV not CMT. Cause there is nothing country about the song. What was their record company thinking? Hey!! This song has the words horse and cowboy in it. It must be country!!

NOT!!!

I'll withold judgement on the group that sings the song, if you call that singing untill I've heard another song or 2 from them. But this 1 i avoid as much as possible. And thanx for the heads up on the countdown. It means DH and I can stop at number 2 tonight cause he completely agrees with me on this song.

I had never heard this song until now. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm not a big country fan..there's maybe 3 artists I can stand but that song cracked me up.

I heard this song for the first time on the CMT awards...and I was like "who ARE these freaks?" DH told me "Big and Rich - listen" and I was just rolling. I heard the song for the first time on the radio the next day...I love it. Great beat to it...it's a different side to country...but it's still got that 'twang' to it at parts. :)

I think that the video is funny and the song is OK but I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Girls Lie Too by Terri Clark. That one is really good IMO.

I like that song too..(Girls Lie Too). :)

In my opinion it's pretty cool that country radio has been accepting of Big & Rich and other groups that aren't traditional George Strait country (no flames, please, I like George Strait too). A few years ago there were alot of folks who thought Shania shouldn't be doing country. I guess it's about expanding the boundaries of what we're used to.

Does anybody watch Crossroads? It's a show on the other Country Music Station (not CMT...but I can't think of the name), where a country artist and rock artist perform together. Wynonna and Heart were on one show... Hank Jr and Kid Rock... Pat Benatar and Martina McBride... It's a great show!!!

I like the stuff that Jimmy Buffet has been doing with Alan Jackson and a few others. I know that this wouldn't have been acceptable some years back. In fact, I remember when Willie Nelson was considered unacceptable.

I finally saw the videa and cracked up! (For 'Girls Lie Too.') I also love Jimmy Buffett, so I'm thrilled he's doing duets on CMT.

As for Big & Rich - someone must like them, because we can't keep their CD in the store! Every time we get a shipment we sell out within a week.

i really like terri clarks new song----im seeing her in concert in september, since she is opening for toby keith--icant wait

Love the song, "Redneck Woman." We just saw Gretchen Wilson. She was very good.

I'm not so sure about "Save a Horse....", though. That song sounds like country rap to me. I love country, hate rap. So, I'm really confused! LOL!

And, Toby Keith is awesome!

I like the song "Save A Horse...", but I haven't seen the video. Maybe that's a good thing because it sounds like it may turn me off the song.

Don't like Teri Clark but I LOOOOVVVVEEEE Toby Keith (and Tim and Kenny) :teeth:
