Savanna room question

We are booked at AKL savanna with bunk beds. When I read about them on WDW's site, it gives the description of the room. Then it states that Savannah View Deluxe Rooms offer view of Disney's Animal Kingdom® Lodge wildlife reserve. It doesn't however give me a delux option. I am assuming that with just a Savanna room you still get a view of the animals, but I could be wrong. How do you get a delux room?

The Deluxe rooms were a little bigger then the standard Savannah View rooms. However, I think all of those rooms were part of the conversion to Villas for the DVC project.

Does it say Savanna view on your reservation? If it does, then you will be able to see the animals from your balcony. We had a standard room with savannah view and actually had to pry ourselves away from watching the animals one night to go meet friends. But don't expect the snaimls to be out 24/7. As a Cast Member told us - you will see the animals when they want to be seen.

All of the standard Savannah rooms overlook the resort's wildlife reserve. These resort reserves are separate from those that house the animals at AK park, BTW. The hotel was especially designed to maximize the number of rooms that overlook the savannahs because they're obviously the hotel's biggest draw. In addition to the fantastic views of the animals you'll have from your balcony, there are also viewing locations all throughout the hotel and it's grounds to see the animals.

I have heard that "savannah view" for the new DVC rooms is a slightly different classification system. The DVC rooms are classified by size, not necessarily view. For example, a savannah view DVC studio could overlook the pool instead of a savannah depending on which room you actually get. I find that to be pretty confusing. However, it sounds like you are not staying in a DVC room and have just a standard Savannah View hotel room book, so you're guarenteed a view of the reserve. Hope this helps! Enjoy! :thumbsup2

That's not exactly true.

DVC Savannah Views do overlook the Savannah.

DVC Standard Views may overlook the pool or anything else (parking lot?) (No pool or "standard" view as at AKL)

DVC "Value" Rooms have both savannah and standard view, but you don't get to pick which you want.

DVC Concerige (just like AKL Concerige) may overlook the pool or the savannah.

Does it matter what floor you are on as to how well you can see the animals on the savana? Are some savana views better than others? Never stayed at AKL but want to in Dec. 2007, when will the construction be done?
