I have a craving for these for some reason.

I have some of the pre-cooked sausage crumbles from Jimmy Dean. Has anyone here ever made the balls with that? Or just pre-cooked your sausage before making the balls? I've always done the raw sausage mixture, but I like the idea of having the sausage cooked first.

What are your ingredient measurements, oven temp, cook time?

I usually cook the sausage ALMOST all of the way through first. Then the meat INSIDE stays moist, but I like the crisy edges it gets being pre-cooked.

I use the regular sized bag of cheese(not the 1 lb size), one roll of sausage and 2 puches of the mix(not sure waht it would be for the box). I just follow the biscuit cooking directions.

BTW...We LOVE usuing the maple flavor sausage.

I have never even heard of this wondrous sausage/cheese/Bisquick concoction, but now I am utterly intrigued... and I have some of the Jimmy Dean sausage crumbles leftover too! Can one of you share this recipe with me? Sounds so yummy!!

I don't have a recipie persay....but this is how I make them...

I mix 1 roll of (mostly) cooked sausage, 1 regular sized bag shredded cheddar or Jack cheese and 2 pouches of plain biscuit mix(you can use the boxed too, but I buy the pouches) together. Spoon onto a cookie sheet (drop biscuits) and backe according to the biscuit directions. I like mine darker, but you can bake them to your liking.

My kids LOVE them and will eat them all day! Considering the fact that they are 4 and JUST hitting 30lbs I'm okay with that.:thumbsup2

Gina - this is a fairly common snack/hors d'ouevres item. They are always popular with people.

Thanks for the recipe, Soldier's. I was in too big of a hurry, so I made them for my breakfast/lunch before anyone replied here . And boy, were they good! I have a lot left for breakfast or lunch tomorrow.

I found the recipe below, but for my batch I adjusted the measurements because the bag of crumbles is only 9 ounces. I just cut the Bisquick, cheese, and milk in half. Milk isn't always called for in recipes for sausage balls, but I found that it really needed it when using the pre-cooked crumbles. The mixture was really dry without the milk (which I added last). I must have made mine bigger than hers, too, because it took closer to 14 minutes for mine to look as done as I like. My batch made 15 balls.

Mix all ingredients and roll into quarter size balls. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake at 400 deg. for about 10 minutes.
